What's the history of TWF? What were you to it what happened to it?

So, a long time ago in a land far away (or around 2004ish) there was a wrestling news site called ewrestling news that opened a forum.

Problem was that the owner was a dick that didn't moderate it, so, after repeated attempts to get the owner to look after the place, one of those members took matters into their own hands and started "Ballz Mahoneys Wrassin Forum", taking all of the members with him and banning the ones that needed moderating at the first place. The ones that are banned from there start their own forum too (theunprettier).

The Ewrestling news owner sees his arse and shuts the forum down.... only to reopen it 12 months later (which is when I join) and proceeds to give it the same amount of attention... problem for him this time is that some of those original members have rejoined and are directing traffic to their new sites. So I join both, much prefer Ballz Mohoneys (by this point renamed The Wrestling Forum) and stay there, getting made up to a mod shortly after.

Around 2007(ish) the guy that started it wants out and hands the reigns to me.

Over time it grew, I added a homepage for news and blogs, we had partnerships with all sorts of blog sites and podcasts and an Efed (which got big enough for some of the members to start a second "feeder" fed) and were the partner forum for a couple of smaller news sites. I think the partner site that did the best is OSW Review - I was named on their websites timeline, don't know if I still am.

It was never going to be another Wrestling Observer simply because it was just a hobby, but it was always busy.

Anyway, life moves on - in 2011 my wife has our first child and free time grows less. In 2014 my wife has our second child, in 2015 I get a promotion at work and start a college course (currently doing the next course on from that one now).

At this point my free time dissapears, the network and forum membership I built is growing up and moving on too and Facebook, Twitter and Reddit are becoming bohemeths for this type of discussion.

Site activity dwindled, the software aged because I wasn't updating it, spam became a battle I wasn't interested in fighting anymore and I finally pulled the plug by not paying the hosting fees in 2018... I was sad to see it go because it had been my "thing" for a long time but it just didn't make any sense to keep it running anymore.
