President Donald Trump said Tuesday the United States has reached a trade agreement with Indonesia after speaking with the country’s President Prabowo Subianto.

Hours after announcing the agreement on Truth Social, Trump told reporters that it calls for Indonesia to not charge any tariffs on American exports, while the US will impose a 19% tariff on Indonesian exports.

In a subsequent post on Truth Social, he said the agreement was “finalized.” However, the Indonesian government had yet to make any similar announcements on its end, as of Tuesday afternoon.

Trump also said Indonesia committed to buying “$15 Billion Dollars in U.S. Energy, $4.5 Billion Dollars in American Agricultural Products, and 50 Boeing Jets, many of them 777’s.”

Before departing the White House to speak at a summit in Pittsburgh, the president said Indonesia is “known for high-quality copper, which we’ll be using.” That may mean that copper from the country could face lower tariffs, or no tariffs, if Trump proceeds with his threat to levy a 50% tax across all copper imports on August 1.

While Indonesia shipped $20 million worth of copper to the US last year, according to US Commerce Department data, that’s far behind top suppliers Chile and Canada, which sent $6 billion and $4 billion worth of the metal to the US last year.

Gloves and mask coming off entirely now and people are struggling to find the hoops they have to jump through to defend

Israel has bombed warehousing and staff accommodation in Gaza belonging to the World Health Organization amid intensifying international horror at its continuing attacks on starving civilians and on humanitarian efforts in the devastated Palestinian territory.

The airstrikes, which struck the UN global health agency’s facilities in Deir al-Balah – the focus of a recent offensive by the Israeli military – came as Israel cancelled the work visa of Jonathan Whittall, the head of the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (Ocha) inside Gaza and the most senior UN aid official in the coastal strip.

Hours after a hard-hitting joint statement on Monday by 27 western countries including the UK, France, Australia and Canada harshly criticising Israel’s restrictions on humanitarian aid and calling for an immediate end to the war, the UN’s secretary general, António Guterres, warned that the “last lifelines keeping people alive [in Gaza] are collapsing”, adding that humanitarian efforts were “being impeded, undermined and endangered”.

Speaker Mike Johnson on Monday said he does not plan to allow votes on any measures related to the Jeffrey Epstein case in the House’s final week in Washington before a weekslong recess, despite intense pressure from some of his own GOP members to go on the record on the issue.

Some of President Donald Trump’s most loyal supporters in Congress have been pressing party leaders to allow for a vote to show they support transparency around the Epstein saga — an issue that continues to animate the MAGA base even as Trump has repeatedly sought to blame Democrats for fanning the flames.

The House forcing the Trump administration to turn over materials against its will would represent a remarkable rebuke of the president by his base. But the push has shown little forward momentum among the party’s leadership on Capitol Hill.

Johnson told CNN on Monday the full House would not vote on a pending measure from members of his own party – a non-binding resolution calling for the release of additional Epstein files – before the chamber’s August recess, which is slated to begin at week’s end.

The head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s urban search and rescue unit has resigned, telling colleagues he was frustrated by bureaucratic hurdles the Trump administration imposed that delayed the agency’s response to deadly flooding in Texas, according to three people familiar with his reasoning.

Ken Pagurek, who worked with FEMA’s search and rescue branch for more than a decade and served as chief for the past year, told associates that his concerns had been mounting since the start of hurricane season and that the administration’s changes to the agency were causing “chaos.”

He said he worried that a new policy that requires purchases of more than $100,000 be personally approved by Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, could hurt disaster response efforts that require speed and agility.

Experts have said that responses during a disaster can quickly total billions of dollars, and that requiring personal approvals for expenses of $100,000 and above could easily create bottlenecks.

“This decision was not made lightly, and after much reflection and prayer, it is the right path for me at this time,” Mr. Pagurek wrote in a resignation letter. His departure was first reported by CNN.

The leadership of the U.S. attorney’s office in New Jersey was thrown into confusion on Tuesday as top Justice Department officials pushed back after federal judges in the state moved to appoint a new U.S. attorney.

The panel of federal judges rejected Alina Habba’s bid to stay in the job as the state’s U.S. attorney. Instead, they invoked a rarely used power to select a candidate of their own, Desiree Leigh Grace, an experienced prosecutor whom Ms. Habba named as her first assistant soon after she took over as interim U.S. attorney in March.

But the attorney general, Pam Bondi, responded Tuesday evening with a social media post defending Ms. Habba and saying that the first assistant — Ms. Grace — “has just been removed.”

“This Department of Justice does not tolerate rogue judges — especially when they threaten the President’s core Article II powers,” Ms. Bondi wrote.

The rapid sequence of events raises the prospect of yet another confrontation between the Trump administration and the federal judiciary. Ms. Grace’s apparent removal from the office may not nullify the judges’ decision to appoint her as the New Jersey U.S. attorney, but is it unclear whether the judges will be able to enforce their appointment.

I don't like that Israel is killing innocent Palestinians, but they have the right to protect themselves from a second holocaust.
