Triple H kept things open regarding the future of WWE Evolution.
In the very last question of the
WWE Evolution post-show press conference, Emily May asked the CCO of WWE if Evolution would become a yearly show moving forward. Triple H’s answer wasn’t a yes or a no, but a we shall see.
“I don’t want to say it’s yearly, it’s not yearly. I think we see what that demand is for it,” he said. “Because as the demand for the women grows across the board every day, it becomes less about having their own show and more about…the equality, it’s all there. They don’t have to have their show to be in the spotlight. But if it works, we’ll definitely go down that road again. It’s a ‘we shall see.’
He argued that fans are insprired by women’s wrestlers enough that he doesn’t know if they need to be focused on for one particular night.
“I don’t know if it has to be a particular night for them to be inspired by the women, because I think the women do that every single Monday, Tuesday, Friday, whenever we have a PLE, wherever we’re having a Saturday Night’s Main Event. They’re role models, they’re inspiring people, they’re changing their lives. That sounds dramatic to some degree, but that is the kind of thing they do.”
Triple H, Naomi, and Stephanie Vaquer all took questions from the media during the post-show. Here are the other highlights:
Triple H
- He first brought up Goldberg’s final match on Saturday Night’s Main Event and praised him for bringing great intensity and doing a great job. Said he has nothing but respect for him as a performer and a human being.
- Says he questioned doing another Evolution show as he thought women were already achieving goals in the WWE like headlining shows, but decided to move forward and was really excited for it. He wanted to focus on the present and future of the product, not have it be a nostalgia show.
- Regarding Seth Rollins, his injury status is inconclusive, but it doesn’t look good. He will be going to Birmingham on Monday for an MRI and will see where they go from there. He did say Rollins was at the show in crutches.
- Said that Jelly Roll asked to come to the Performance Center and train. He’s been in the ring “every single day” going at it. Says he’s dedicated to it, he’s “all in.”
Stephanie Vaquer
- It means a lot for her to be where she is at now. She worked hard to learn a new style and language. She loves a challenge, says she’s come here to be the best. Soon she will be champion.
- When asked what it meant for someone who spoke English as a second language to make it in WWE, she said she will keep working hard. She wants to show that nobody can say “you can’t do that,” so she’ll continue to work hard as it’s important for her.
Naomi
- When she came back she wanted to be better and winning the World title represents that.
- During her time away she learned to just keep going. She’s watched so many women before her and taken some of their struggles along the way, which got her to where she is now.
- When asked about her entrance with the words ‘underrated’ and ‘unappreciated,” Naomi said that there are moments in life where we don’t feel appreciated or loved, and sometimes you have to adjust. She said that for years everyone saw her as a good girl, a good character, a good babyface and eventually, everyone has a breaking point.
- She also reacted to her colleagues’ reaction to her title win, saying she felt the love backstage, seeing all the new faces and seeing them get emotional, it’s really cool. But weaving into her new persona, she then declared none of them would be getting title shots.
