FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WWE ANNOUNCES CREATIVE LEADERSHIP TRANSITION AND BRAND SPLIT FOLLOWING TLC RESULT

STAMFORD, CT, December 16, 2013

In the aftermath of the controversial conclusion to WWE Tables, Ladders & Chairs and as part of an ongoing effort to evolve its programming structure, WWE has announced a major shift in creative leadership heading into 2014.

Effective immediately, WWE is reinstating a brand extension model, returning Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown to fully independent, creatively autonomous programs. This move reflects the WWE Board of Directors’ commitment to fostering healthy internal competition, showcasing diverse creative visions, and better developing emerging talent.

This restructuring follows the temporary medical leave of WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon. Mr. McMahon experienced a health issue earlier this month and will be stepping away from day-to-day responsibilities as he recovers. WWE expects Mr. McMahon to make a full recovery and return at an appropriate time.

New Creative Direction

Under the new structure, Raw will be overseen by Stephanie McMahon, who will lead the brand with her own vision for WWE’s future, stepping into full creative leadership for the first time independent of her father’s direction. She will be supported by Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who will remain focused on long-term talent development and global brand growth.

SmackDown will be led by Paul Heyman, returning to a senior creative leadership role. Heyman’s appointment comes following extensive conversations with CM Punk, who had recently expressed concerns about WWE’s creative direction and long-term vision. Punk will remain with WWE as an exclusive member of the SmackDown roster and will play a key role in shaping its identity moving forward.

Championship Status

At TLC last night December 15, WWE Champion Randy Orton and World Heavyweight Champion John Cena competed in a highly anticipated title unification match. In a rare and unexpected conclusion, both Superstars simultaneously unhooked the opposite championship belts, hitting the ground with one title each in hand. As a result, no clear winner could be declared.

After review, the WWE Board has ruled that both championships will remain active, and each brand will move forward with its own world champion.
• Randy Orton will continue as WWE Champion, representing Monday Night Raw
• John Cena will remain World Heavyweight Champion, representing Friday Night SmackDown

WWE Brand Draft Set for December 30th, 2013

To support the new direction, WWE will host a live Brand Draft on Monday, December 30th, 2013. All active WWE Superstars, Divas, and on-air talent will be eligible. The draft will assign talent exclusively to either Raw or SmackDown, with each brand establishing its own rosters, championship divisions, commentary teams, and creative identity.

The Brand Draft will mark a clean slate for both shows and is intended to fuel new rivalries, fresh opportunities, and long-term storytelling across both programs.

Looking Ahead to 2014

As WWE prepares for the launch of the WWE Network and the continued global expansion of its product, this new chapter is designed to drive innovation, sharpen creative identity, and elevate the next generation of Superstars. With two distinct leadership teams now in place, fans can expect unique stories, new directions, and a competitive edge unlike anything seen in WWE in years.
Perhaps not the most realistic start, but a start nonetheless! This is a split I'll be doing with Tyler here, where I'll be running SmackDown while Tyler takes over Raw. Love this period since it could have gone so many ways, hope you guys enjoy!

- WWE Smackdown: January 3rd, 2014

- Our show opens with Joey Styles and Paul Heyman at ringside as they welcome us to a ‘New Era’ of Smackdown. They promise a big night and what better way to start the night off than with the boss, Shane McMahon!

The boy wonder is out to a big pop in his first WWE appearance since 2009! Shane says he is back and he wants Smackdown to be different. He’s not here to rule with an iron fist, he’s here to showcase the best wrestlers in the world.
87

- On cue the music of CM Punk hits and out he comes. He tells Shane that he doesn’t trust any McMahon, and he knows better than to expect Shane to be any different. He tells McMahon it’s simple. Stay out of his way and they’ll get along just fine. The world champ comes out now, as John Cena has his own mic. He says Punk is paranoid, he’s ready to give Shane a chance. Punk asks if he’s ready to give HIM a chance… tonight! Cena asks the crowd who are very on board and agrees. Tonight, on the very first show of 2014 it'll be CM Punk vs. John Cena… for the World Heavyweight Championship! Shane says he agrees fully and makes the match official as the fans cheer in approval.
87

- World Tag Team Championship Quarter-Finals
The Real Americans (Jack Swagger & Antonio Cesaro) w/ Zeb Colter vs. Tons Of Funk (Brodus Clay & Tensai) w/ Cameron

We get a solid bout from 4 big bodies. Heyman lets us know he’s taking a ‘break’ from managing to help give his analysis of the stars of Smackdown, but he’s always looking to potentially add more clients. This one is pretty even until late when Zeb Colter trips up Tensai as he lines up a bicycle kick. The distraction leaves him open to a big corner uppercut before he gets dumped with the Neutralizer for the 3.
78/76/80

- We are backstage where Josh Matthews is with the Prime Time Players. Titus O’Neil says tonight he’s hyped. The PTP are in the tag title tournament and they promise to get the belt to make millions of dollars, millions of dollars. Onto the scene on a chrome bike is Hunico and Camacho. Hunico says these two ‘perros’ have no shot against them and he and his boy are going to take them out! Camacho nods in agreement as they ride off, Darren Young asking if they really think they can win while riding a tricycle?
71

- We go to the office of Shane McMahon as he lets us know that while we have CM Punk and John Cena tonight, next week we decide who's challenging for that title at Royal Rumble! It’ll be a special 10 man Royal Rumble itself, with 9 superstars joining the loser of tonight's main event!
77

- Prime Time Players (Titus O’Neil & Darren Young) vs. Hunico & Camacho
Joey Styles notes the experience edge for the PTP and it shows early as they isolate Hunico. Eventually Camacho turns momentum with a big kick but in reality this isn’t a particularly strong match. In the end Darren Young goes over clean when he drops Hunico with the Gut Check as the PTP celebrate with fans at ringside.
69/69/70

- After the break we see Miz in the ring, which is set up for Miz TV. The obnoxious Miz says he has a very special guest tonight. Not only is he the reigning Intercontinental champion… he’s his opponent tonight! He asks us all to welcome Big E Langston! The champ steps out as Miz asks him if he feels confident tonight against a legendary, former world champion like the Miz! Big E chuckles and says it’s been a long time since the Miz has mattered so while he won’t overlook him, he certainly doesn’t respect him! Miz smirks and runs down Big E saying he’s beaten nobody, his reign will be forgotten and he’ll just be a footnote in the Hall of Fame career of the Miz! Big E says the fans don’t want to hear Miz talk anymore, they want a fight. He starts knocking over the set as Miz backs out of the ring as we go to a commercial.
76

- Intercontinental Championship
Big E Langston © vs. The Miz

This is one way traffic early, as Big E uses his power to toss the challenger around the ring and hit some slick power moves. Eventually Miz manages to lure Big E outside, sending him into the steel steps and working his leg as Styles notes the experience edge showing a bit here. Miz keeps control for a while but eventually gets his momentum stalled when he tries to come off the top rope but is caught then crushed with a big belly to back suplex. He starts clapping as the straps come down for the Big Ending, but someone jumps up at ringside, pulling Miz down from the apron! Big E is furious, grabbing the hooded man and flipping him into the ring before we see them… it’s Alex Riley? The fans boo as Big E crushes A-Ry with a big splash. As the official checks on him however Miz has the IC title and nails Big E with it! He slides it out and then lifts the champion up before hitting the Skull Crushing Finale and covers to win the title! The fans boo as Miz grabs the title and Alex Riley, the two hugging and raising each other's arms to booing.
85-87-81

- We are backstage now with William Regal. He tells us that he’s been tasked by Shane McMahon to help add to the Smackdown women’s division. He says he’s gone around the globe but he won't be bringing any ‘Divas’ to this show. He has found 3 grizzled, dangerous and hungry women who will bring another level of intensity. He introduces them one at a time as Mercedes Martinez, Mellisa Flash and Sara Del Ray. These women are here to set the standard in the WWE for womens wrestling, so the women working here better be ready to step up their game.
76

- We go to the ring and out steps Big Show to a nice pop. Show says next week he plans to win the 10 man Rumble, as there’s nobody strong enough to throw him out. On cue out steps Ryback. The Big Guy notes his own strength and that he almost won last year's Royal Rumble itself. He promises nobody is stronger than him, but now he’s interrupted by Mark Henry. Henry tells the big guy to remember just who the hell he is. He’s the world strongest man, and he’ll lift the whole damn ring up to toss people out. Just as all 3 men look ready to fight Christian’s music hits, and out he steps to a pop as commentary say they haven’t seen him in months. Christian says he might not have the size, but he just needs one more match to get back to the top of this business so why not him and why not next week? In fact, why not a little preview now! We get a 4 way brawl until officials break it up, as commentary says this isn’t even half of the field!
83

- World Heavyweight Championship
John Cena © vs. CM Punk

The crowd is red hot as commentary notes these two are arguably the biggest names in wrestling today. They do an excellent job working the crowd here going hold for hold and move for move. Punk controls the pace with some technique and using his speed, but Cena shows he’s no slouch and hits a nasty suplex on the floor. After about 15 minutes both men get to ringside, where Punk starts clearing off the announce desk. He lifts Cena up and seems to be setting up for a piledriver, but Cena slips free and seems poised to deliver the Attitude Adjustment. Punk slides off and goes for a reverse suplex, but that’s left both men down as the table crashes under them! The fans boo as the official reaches his ten count, both men barely moving after that vicious moment. They do eventually get up, and start brawling more as our show goes off the air.
87/94/72

- Final Thoughts: Not a bad show, although it did lack airtime for a lot of the bigger names. I’m glad Big E & Miz did so well in the ring and everything with Punk & Cena, unsurprisingly, went over great. Hopefully people are interested in seeing what comes next week.

- WWE Velocity: January 4th, 2014

- Josh Matthews is at ringside with Paul Heyman as our show opens with Damien Sandow stepping out. He says that 2013 is in his past. The bad luck of his career is over and now, it’s time for him to rise to his proper place and teach these plebeians a lesson. He promises that on Smackdown we are looking at the next number one contender, but he’s interrupted by Kofi Kingston. Kofi asks if he’s being serious. The last time Sandow faced Cena for the world title… he lost. Even with surprise and a weakened Cena! Sandow is furious and says Kofi knows nothing just like these fans and isn’t worthy of his time. Kofi asks Sandow to prove it tonight. How about to go one on one and see who is the better man? Sandow ponders and agrees saying he’ll be happy to beat Kofi… but in the main event, not now! With that he heads to the back and commentary hype a big main event tonight!
84

- Los Matadores (Diego & Fernando) vs. David Otunga & JTG
The odd duo of JTG and Otunga actually hold their own well here, but in the end it’s Los Matadores who prevail after Diego puts JTG away with the backstabber for the 3. Commentary mentions their match this Friday against a team we’ll see later tonight, but wonders if anyone can match this experienced duo.
74/69/79

- We come back from a commercial and see Brad Maddox, in ring gear, standing in the ring. Maddox says that despite his exemplary and successful run as Raw GM, Shane apparently doesn’t want him in that role. Instead he’s going to ‘treat’ the fans to the beginning of his career renaissance. That starts tonight when he beats someone he should’ve gotten a Rumble spot ahead of tonight… Sin Cara!
73

- Brad Maddox vs. Sin Cara
A solid in ring bout with the crowd pretty happy to see Maddox get beat up. He manages some sneaky heel offense but this is mostly a showcase for Sin Cara, who polishes him off with the Senton Bomb for the clean 3.
76/73/79

- In the locker room now and an exasperated Curt Hawkins is taping up. He asks off camera why the hell he’s even in this situation, and into the scene walks Zack Ryder! Ryder tells Hawkins that they are former tag team champions and title shots haven’t been easy to come by for either of them. He says Smackdown is a fresh start for both so how about it? The Major Broskis back again? Hawkins rolls his eyes and says he’ll team with Ryder, but he’s not planning to change how he operates in the ring. Ryder seems hyped regardless as he leaves the room with Hawkins reluctantly following.
76

- The Major Broskis (Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins) vs. Mason Ryan & Ezekiel Jackson
Matthews says despite the experience edge, Ryan and Big Zeke are no pushovers. Indeed they spend a good portion of the match throwing their smaller opponents around until Hawkins manages an eye rake and makes a hot tag. Ryder hits some great moves in a pretty solid match. In the end Hawkins makes a blind tag as Ryder gets drilled with a Full Nelson Slam, but it’s the Broski who steals the win when Hawkins rolls him up with the tights for the victory! Big Zeke & Mason Ryan argue after the bout as an ecstatic Ryder celebrates with his reluctant partner.
75/70/81

- Backstage as Josh Matthews asks Kaitlyn and Alicia Fox for their thoughts about the new women on Smackdown and William Regal's comments. Fox says that if Regal thinks she's some kind of push over, his girls are going to be in for a rude surprise. She has been in the ‘big leagues’ since 2008 and she isn’t sweating the two ‘indy’ veterans. Kaitlyn says she respects the road that Regals women took, but she’s insulted to be viewed as some sort of ‘barbie doll’ diva and promises the show just how good this diva is on Smackdown.
74

- Kofi Kingston vs. Damien Sandow
A solid, back and forth main event here as Sandow uses liberal cheating while Kofi shows his usual athletic prowess. Heyman and Matthews spend the match discussing both men’s odds on Smackdown with Heyman touting Sandow’s brains as a key while Matthews notes Kofi’s ability to survive rumbles making him a potential dark horse favorite. This match ends when Sandow is able to dodge the Trouble In Paradise and pin Kofi while using the ropes for the tainted 3.
81/82/82

Final Thoughts
: Was happy to feature an undercard or unused guy this week. Most of the segments went over well and helped push some storylines and building up the undercard is a goal of mine. Man, I love B-Shows.
77
News & Rumours:

- A couple of thrown together teams who all did well on Velocity. I don’t really have plans to team up Big Zeke and Ryan of Otunga & JTG, but they could certainly work together some more after solid showings.

- Fandango is also expected to be back on TV this week and it'll be interesting to see where he goes without Summer Rae after their split due to the Brand Extension.

- The Smackdown women’s division can best be described as a work in progress. The three indy stalwarts make up about half of the division right now, with Alicia Fox & Kaitlyn. Layla El is also on the Blue Brand and at least one more active worker could debut as soon as Friday, but it’s expected a champion won’t be crowned until the division is a bit more full, likely with the belt being decided at Wrestlemania.

- Down in NXT Smackdown certainly isn’t lacking in prospects with the brand drafting many of the brands top names like Sami Zayn, Richie Steamboat & Xavier Woods. Creative are excited about the talent in Florida and are expected to add a lot more soon enough.

- Expect to see a few more new faces again as Smackdown looks to crown a number one contender for the Royal Rumble with their own 10 man Rumble, plus the other two Quarter-Finals matches of the tag title tournament.

Hajj! Glad you’ve finally made your way over here. I’ve known Hajj for like idk 20 years or something crazy like that…

I look forward to this. Not a time period I’m super familiar with since it’s during my ten year “gap period” of not really following wrestling but your stuff is always a fun read. I hope Tyler will also be posting his stuff here too!

Monday Night RAW
January 6th, 2014 – Cleveland, OH

“The Night” by CFO$ begins to play as the opening video package airs for Monday Night RAW. As it fades, the camera cuts into the arena where pyro goes off and you see a sold out crowd in Cleveland, Ohio on their feet. As the crowd continues to applause, the camera pans to the announcers’ table.

Michael Cole:
Welcome everyone to Monday Night RAW! We’ve got a great show in store for you here tonight, the first of many in 2014. And, as you may have noticed, I’m joined by my new broadcast colleague, and longtime friend, Booker T! Welcome to RAW Book!

Booker T:
Aw man, it feels good to be back at this table, Cole! New year, new era, new rosters… after that draft, everything done changed! And trust me, everybody in that locker room wants to make a statement, and tonight, they get their first chance to do it. Now can you dig that, sucka?

Michael Cole:
That’s right, I can dig that Booker! It’s a new year and a new chapter for Monday Night RAW. A lot of eyes on us, and it all starts tonight.

"Flight of the Valkyries" blasts through the speakers of The Q, and the crowd, who just sat down, immediately jump back up to their feet in cheers. Daniel Bryan walks out onto the stage, index fingers up, and fists pumping in rhythm with the crowd’s “Yes!” chants. This is the first time he’s made an appearance on WWE television since the massive beating he took from the Wyatts at TLC. Bryan makes his way to the ring, climbing in and immediately grabbing a mic. The music dies down, but the chants don’t. He lets it breathe a few seconds before he speaks.

Daniel Bryan:
“Last week, was the WWE Draft. A supposed reset, and fresh start for the company. I watched as my friends all got drafted, patiently waiting to hear my name called. However, unbeknownst to me, HHH and Stephanie had already cut a deal with the board of directors. They filed an internal exemption, called it a “medical holdover”, and said after what I went through with the Wyatts at TLC, that I wasn’t “cleared” for a brand transfer. That I needed to stay under close monitoring here on RAW under the care of the doctors that have already been working with me. But here’s the thing, I’ve been cleared.. for over a week, actually. I’m not stupid, the fans aren’t stupid, we all know what this really is. They didn’t block me from being drafted to protect me, they did it to contain me.

He looks around the arena. The crowd is still buzzing.

Daniel Bryan:
“My friend CM Punk, who has faced the same battles I have with Triple H and Stephanie, got to escape. He got to leave and go be under new leadership that’s ran by a man who has always believe in me, and has always had my best interests in mind. But me? I’m still here, stuck on RAW. Stuck under Stephanie McMahon and stuck under Triple H. Stuck wrestling everyone they’ve thrown at me. I mean if you name them, then I’ve been in the ring with them. Alberto Del Rio. Wade Barrett. Big Show. Ryback. The Shield. The Wyatt Family. And every time I fight my way through it, every time I earn my shot, they move the goalposts. Do you think it was an accident that I was thrown to the Wyatts at TLC? Do you think they just started targeting me for no reason? That wasn’t random, that was you, Stephanie. That was you, Triple H. I know it was you, and that you sent your dogs after me. You’ve made it clear you’ll do whatever it takes to keep me down, but it’s not going to work. I don’t care if you make me fight the Wyatts again, I don’t care if you put me in the ring with the Shield. I don’t care if you make me face Godzilla, King Kong, or King Kong Bundy. I will keep fighting, because I am a fighter!”

The “Yes!” chants pick up again. Bryan stands tall in the center of the ring as “STEPHANIE MCMAHON” lights up the titantron in a purple hue. The new boss herself walks out onto the ramp, mic in hand, looking more annoyed than intimidated. The crowd lets her hear it, but she waits for them to die down before speaking.

Stephanie McMahon:
“Oh, Daniel, always so dramatic. Let’s clear up a few things. First of all, CM Punk didn’t “escape”, he ran, like a coward. Is that what you want for yourself? Just to have everything handed to you by your close personal friend, without having to earn it? I’m not surprised that your buddy CM Punk jumped at that chance, it fits his MO. All of the glory, without any of the work. I will love seeing what he does over there where there will be nobody to endlessly blame for his shortcomings, other than himself. Secondly, I don’t know what you’re talking about with this “medical exemption” or why you think I would ever bother wasting time trying to keep someone like YOU here on MY show. Coming out here and lying like this to your fans that you supposedly love doesn't look so great, Daniel. Just tell them the truth, that you love the competition here and that you want to be here.”

Bryan leans on the ropes with a sour look on his face, obviously mocking the fact that he would ever want to be here.

Stephanie McMahon:
“And lastly, you keep throwing out all these names of opponents like they’re part of some conspiracy. I’m sorry, did someone force you to be a WWE Superstar? Are we supposed to feel bad for you because your opponents are tough? You want a title shot, but all you do is whine and moan.”

Daniel Bryan:
“No, I fight! You put every obstacle in my way, and I keep pushing through. And it’s never enough. Nothing I do is ever enough for you because I’M not enough for you. And I know that, but you know who I am enough for? THEM!”

Daniel Bryan points to the audience as the “Yes!” chants start back up in full swing.

Daniel Bryan:
“So if you’re not willing to do what I want, to give me what I’ve earned, then at least listen to the people and give them what THEY want. THEY want Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton and THEY want it for the WWE Championship.. tonight!”

The crowd cheers wildly as Stephanie fakes a thoughtful look.

Stephanie McMahon:
“Well, unfortunately, Randy Orton isn’t here tonight. I’m so, so sorry. We can’t always get what we want, Daniel. Well, no, that’s not true. I always get what I want. It’s just YOU who can’t get what you want. But, you are in luck, because I do have something special lined up for you. In tonight’s main event, it’ll be Daniel Bryan going one on one, with his old pal Kane.”

Boos immediately flood the arena. Daniel Bryan looks exhausted, but not surprised.

Stephanie McMahon:
“Now if you don’t mind Daniel, there’s a fatal 4-way match that’s about to happen in that ring to determine the #1 contender to the United States title. Because some people around here actually DO earn title shots, instead of trying to complain their way into one. So please, don’t keep your hard-working colleagues waiting any longer, and get the HELL out MY ring.”

Daniel Bryan:
“Don’t worry, I’ll get out of your ring. I wouldn’t want to take the spotlight away from the match you booked to make it look like you believe in fair competition. But just so we’re clear? Tonight, when I beat Kane, again, and stand tall like I always do, I want you to remember something. You can stack the deck all you want. You can send your monsters, your corporate favorites, your dogs, whoever you’ve got. But no matter what you throw at me, I will not stop until I get what I’ve earned. And whether you like it or not, this story, our story, ends with me as WWE Champion.”

He drops the mic, climbs the turnbuckle, and leads the crowd in a thunderous “YES! YES! YES!” chant as his music hits and Stephanie seethes on the ramp.

Michael Cole:
“Well you heard Stephanie McMahon, tonight it’ll be Daniel Bryan vs Kane in the main event. But right now we have a #1 contenders match for the United States Championship, and ladies and gentlemen, that match is next!

Fade to commercial

MATCH 1: United States Championship #1 Contender’s Match
R-Truth vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Wade Barrett

The action kicks off fast with RVD taking early control, using his quick feet to knock both Barrett and Del Rio out of the ring with a spinning heel kick and a dive to the outside. Truth stays inside, playing it smart and picking his moments.
It goes back and forth for a while, with each man getting short bursts of momentum. Barrett slows the pace down with heavy strikes, tossing RVD into the barricade and hammering away on Truth in the corner. Del Rio focuses on Truth’s arm and nearly gets the cross armbreaker locked in, but RVD breaks it up with a springboard kick that sends Del Rio tumbling out of the ring.
The pace picks back up from there. Truth nails a dropkick on Barrett, who stumbles into a split-legged moonsault from RVD. For a while, it turns into a revolving door of finish attempts, breakups, and counters. Barrett connects with Wasteland on RVD but can’t capitalize. Del Rio hits the backstabber on Barrett, but Truth wipes him out with a jumping calf kick.
The finish comes when RVD and Barrett are disoriented outside of the ring. Del Rio goes for his running superkick on Truth while Truth is on his knees, but Truth spreads his legs into a split and ducks it, hops to his feet, rebounds off the ropes, and hits the Lie Detector. He hooks the leg deep and gets the three count on Del Rio to a good pop from the crowd.
Winner: R-Truth [17:07]
R-Truth is the new number one contender for the United States Championship.

Truth rolls out of the ring smiling, making a belt around his waist gesture, as commentary puts over his upset win and rising momentum.

Michael Cole:
“What a win for R-Truth! You’ve gotta believe that might be the biggest singles victory he’s had in years, and it comes at the perfect time!”

Booker T:
“Man, you ain’t lyin’, Cole! Truth just beat three former champions in one night. That ain’t no luck. My homie out here grindin’!”

Michael Cole:
“And now he’s earned a shot at the United States Championship. What an opportunity for a guy who’s been flying under the radar for so long now.”

Booker T:
“He’s got the chance now, dawg. Can I get a “What’s up?” Michael?”

Michael Cole:
“…no.”

Booker and Cole laugh as the camera pans back to Stephanie McMahon’s office to boos from the crowd.

Stephanie is sitting at her desk, looking at something on her tablet, casually muttering to herself.

Stephanie McMahon:
“Daniel’s always so loud until it’s time to actually win something.”

The door opens and Brie Bella walks in.

Brie Bella:
“Before you even start, this isn’t about Daniel.”

Stephanie looks up, amused.

Brie Bella:
“I’m not here to talk about him. I’m here because I want a shot at the Divas Championship.”

Stephanie McMahon:
“Oh, that’s cute. Fighting your husband’s battles wasn’t working, so now it’s your turn?”

Brie Bella:
“I’ve earned it! I’ve shown up, I’ve put in the work, and I’ve won matches. Whatever you think about me, whatever you think about him, it should be irrelevant. Don’t use him as an excuse to stall my career.”

Before Stephanie can respond, Natalya steps in.

Natalya:
“If we’re talking about title shots, I’m not standing in the back. I had AJ beat at TLC until Tamina interfered! I deserve another chance.”

Stephanie leans back in her chair, clearly enjoying this.

Stephanie McMahon:
“Alright, how about this. Tonight, one on one, Brie Bella vs. Natalya. Winner gets... considered. You want to be taken seriously? Go earn it.”

Stephanie turns her attention back to her tablet, clearly finished with the conversation. The shot ends with Brie and Natalya staring at each other, not fiercely but definitely competitively.

We fade to a quick commercial break, where the first thing that plays is a conveniently placed Total Divas ad.

We come back from commercial to backstage, where Cody Rhodes and Goldust are standing in front of a RAW-branded backdrop. They are being interviewed by Renee Young and discussing potential challengers, and what’s next for the Rhodes brothers. Cody is focused and intense, while Goldust nods beside him. The interview has been going for a minute or two now.

Cody Rhodes:
“We’ve faced everyone there is to face. We didn’t just win those tag titles to hand them off. If anybody thinks they’re just gonna come in and take them from us-”

Before Cody can finish, Luke Harper barrels into frame, blindsiding Goldust with a running big boot that sends him crashing hard into the equipment cases. Cody barely has time to react before Erick Rowan slams into him from the other side, driving him spine-first into the concrete wall. Renee absolutely high tails it out of there.
Harper grabs a steel chair from nearby and swings it into Cody’s ribs while Rowan lifts Goldust and throws him into a stack of production crates, sending them toppling. Cody tries to crawl toward his brother, but Harper stomps him down with no hesitation.
The chaos is unrelenting for several more seconds, with boots, fists, and metal clanging against the Rhodes brothers’ flesh.
Then, as the noise dies down, the camera pulls slightly back and the lights dim just enough to set the mood. The eerie tone of Bray Wyatt’s voice creeps in before he even appears.
Bray Wyatt steps slowly into the frame, calm and almost curious as he surveys the damage his family just caused. He kneels down between the Rhodes brothers, looking at them like fallen animals. He takes one of the tag titles and looks at it longingly, before draping it across Goldust’s lifeless body.

Bray Wyatt:
"Still tryin’ to hold on to something that doesn’t belong to you..”

He slowly lifts his head, no longer looking at the Rhodes brothers, but staring directly into the camera, eyes piercing.

Bray Wyatt:
“They say we take orders.. that we belong to someone. That we’re just dogs, sent to bite when the whistle blows. But the truth is… nobody owns the devil. Not any McMahon, not Triple H, and certainly not Daniel Bryan. We don't follow, we awaken. You see… when the reapers come, they don’t knock on doors. They don’t leave warnings, nah. They show up in silence, and take whatever light’s still left.”

Bray looks down at Cody and Goldust.

Bray Wyatt:
“You two shimmer with your father’s name. Glitter, gold, memories of greatness… but all stars, no matter how bright, fade when the sky turns black.”

Bray slowly stands and steps closer to the camera. Harper and Rowan raise their masks to their faces in the background.

Bray Wyatt:
“The world forgets how easy it is to get lost.”

He leans in eerily right up to the camera.

Bray Wyatt:
“But we remember.”

Blackout.

Cue another short commercial break.

MATCH 2:
Seth Rollins vs. Rey Mysterio

It’s a fast-paced, high-energy matchup from the opening bell. Rey Mysterio uses his speed and agility early, sending Rollins to the outside with a hurricanrana through the ropes. Rey goes for a sliding splash under the bottom rope, but Rollins sidesteps and plants him with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on the floor.
Back in the ring, Rollins slows the pace with a series of stiff stomps and corner offense. He taunts the crowd as Rey struggles to get back to his feet. Rey eventually finds an opening, countering a suplex attempt into a spinning DDT, and the momentum starts to swing.
They go back and forth for a while with Rey hitting a seated senton and a springboard crossbody, Rollins answering with a slingblade and a diving knee from the top rope. The crowd stays hot as eventually Rey rallies and hits a dropkick to Seth’s back. He calls for the 619 and hits it, connecting flush across Rollins’ jaw. He goes up top for the splash, but Roman Reigns suddenly hops up onto the apron.
The referee rushes over to get Reigns down, allowing Mysterio to get distracted just long enough for Rollins to recover. As Rey leaps, Rollins gets the knees up and lands them flush on Rey’s stomach. He transitions it immediately to a small package near the ropes. Unnoticed by the referee, Reigns reaches in and grabs Seth’s hand for some extra torque on the pin. The referee counts: 1..2..3!
Winner: Seth Rollins [11:06]

Michael Cole:

“Wait a minute! Roman Reigns just reached under the rope and grabbed Seth’s hand! He helped him steal the win!”

Booker T:
“Man… I don’t know, Cole. I saw somethin’, but it happened so quick. Coulda been nothin’.”

Michael Cole:
“Rey Mysterio had him! That was a stolen victory and you know it!”

Booker T:
“Look, Rey’s one of the best to ever do it, no doubt. But The Shield? They don’t play fair, Cole, they play to win. Believe that.”

Rollins rolls out of the ring grinning, Reigns by his side. Rey Mysterio appears upset in the ring, and is lightly arguing with the official about what happened, as RAW fades into a commercial break.

Back from commercial and Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns are walking down the hall, laughing. Seth has a towel slung over his neck, still flushed from the match. Roman’s smirking, pulling on his gloves as they walk.

Seth Rollins:
"Man, did you see the look on Rey’s face? I don’t even think the ref knew what happened. That’s called execution, baby. That’s called chemistry."

Roman Reigns:
"That’s called a win."

They bump fists, still grinning as they slow their pace, and that's when Dean Ambrose strolls into frame, US Title on his shoulder.

Dean Ambrose:
"Well, well... look at you two. Feeling good, huh?"

Seth Rollins:
"Feeling great. We just embarrassed a legend out there."

Roman Reigns:
"Handled business."

Ambrose chuckles lightly as he adjusts the title around his shoulder.

Dean Ambrose:
"Yeah, yeah. You guys looked sharp. Just… don’t forget who’s the only one around here wearing gold."

Seth Rollins:
"No one’s forgetting, champ."

Roman Reigns:
"We’ll get ours. You just keep yours warm."

Before Dean can respond, R-Truth steps into frame, cool and direct. He walks right up to Ambrose and looks him in the eye, but Ambrose appears unbothered.

Dean Ambrose:
“Hey Truth…. What’s up?”

Rollins and Reigns snicker in the background as Ambrose keeps the grin on his face. Truth is all business, however.

R-Truth:
"Real cute dawg. That title? You’re holdin’ it like it belongs to you. But come Royal Rumble, you’ll realize you just been keepin’ it warm for me. You might be the champ now… but I’m the truth. And the truth hurts."

Truth walks off without another word. The Shield members share a brief glance before continuing down the hallway.

“YOU CAN LOOK BUT YOU CAN’T TOUCH” hits the speakers as the camera pans back to the ring area. Brie Bella makes her entrance first, followed shortly by Natalya, as we continue on to our next match.

MATCH 3:
Brie Bella vs. Natalya

The match starts with a quick handshake and some mutual respect, but both women bring the intensity early. Natalya uses her technical edge, working Brie to the mat with a series of holds and counters. Brie fires back with speed and strikes, catching Natalya off-guard with a running knee to the face that nearly scores the win.
It goes back and forth for a while. Natalya grounds Brie with a snap suplex and locks in a quick leg submission, but Brie reaches the ropes. Brie mounts a comeback with a dropkick off the middle rope and a running bulldog. Natalya blocks a second bulldog attempt and goes for the Sharpshooter, but Brie counters the Sharpshooter with a drop toe hold, sending Natalya throat-first into the middle rope. Brie gets up and hits a quick knee strike to the back, then drags Natalya to the center and hits the facebuster.
Winner: Brie Bella [8:02]

After the match, Brie helps Natalya to her feet. The two exchange a look before Natalya nods and offers her hand. Brie accepts, and the crowd gives a respectful cheer as they shake hands in the center of the ring.

Michael Cole:
What a win for Brie Bella! With what was on the line, that has to be one of the biggest wins she’s had recently. She made a real statement tonight.

Booker T:
Yeah man, Brie stepped up in a big way. Natalya brought the fight, but Brie handled her business. That’s how you earn respect in this division.

Michael Cole:
A hard-fought match, and a great show of sportsmanship at the end. But you have to wonder what this means for the Divas Championship picture.

Booker T:
You right Cole, but let’s keep it real… the question is, will this win even matter to Stephanie McMahon? Brie might’ve impressed the fans, but all that matters is if she impressed the boss.

Natalya is raising Brie’s hand in the ring as we cut to commercial.

MATCH 4:
Drew McIntyre vs. Santino Marella

Coming back from commercial, Santino Marella is already in the ring and has the cobra sock on his hand, playing to the crowd. Shortly though, “BROKEN DREAMS” hits the speakers as Drew McIntyre comes out to his former theme song. He’s all business, wearing his traditional tights. No headband, no air guitar, he walks with a purpose towards the ring.
Once the bell rings, Santino tries to start off with a smile and some Cobra showboating, even striking a few karate poses, but Drew isn’t in the mood.
The second Santino steps forward, Drew clobbers him with a big lariat that flips him inside out. He picks Santino up and hits him with a few back to back snap suplexes in quick succession. Drew drags Santino up by the head, slams him into the corner, and drives in a pair of stiff shoulders to the gut.
Santino stumbles out, dazed, still holding the Cobra sock. He’s completely disoriented. If we were in a morning cartoon, there would be birds circling his head as he looks around aimlessly. Drew kicks him square in the stomach, spikes him with the Future Shock DDT, and covers. 1.. 2.. 3!
Winner: Drew McIntyre [4:00? If you count karate shenanigans]

Drew McIntyre stands in the center of the ring, barely having broke a sweat from the short match. He grabs a mic from ringside, eyes focused, voice low.

Drew McIntyre:
“A few years ago, they called me ‘The Chosen One’. Vince McMahon’s personal endorsement. They branded me as a future world champion, and said the company was mine for the taking. But what happened? I lost focus, and I lost purpose. Instead of winning titles, I became a punchline. I ended up prancing around in a joke band with a couple of clowns, strutting an air guitar, and for what? What did that get me? While everyone laughed, I disappeared. You had your fun laughing at me, but now it’s my turn.”

He turns to face the hard cam, intensity building.

Drew McIntyre:
“No more jokes, no more distractions, no more wasted potential. I've been at the bottom, overlooked, written off. But I know who I am, and I know what I’m capable of. They anointed me “The Chosen One”, but I never asked for it, and I never needed it. Because now, I'm choosing myself. And it's time the world takes notice."

He drops the mic with a heavy thud and stares down the camera. He goes to exit the ring, before turning around and picking Santino Marella up from the ground. He hits one more Future Shock DDT to boos from the crowd before exiting the ring quickly and walking with purpose to the back.

Booker T:
“Man... Drew McIntyre lookin’ like a man possessed tonight. That ain’t the same dude we saw last year.”

Michael Cole:
“Well... he used to be the Chosen One. And if Drew McIntyre keeps talking like that and backing it up, maybe he still is. But folks up next, it's your main event. Daniel Bryan takes on Kane, a man who used to be his tag team partner, his teammate, even his friend. But tonight, it's all business. Daniel Bryan goes one-on-one with Kane, right here on RAW. Next!”

MATCH 5: Main Event
Daniel Bryan vs. Kane

The crowd gets fired up as Daniel Bryan makes his entrance, soaking in the loudest "Yes!" chants of the night. Fire pyro hits suddenly, scaring Booker T immensely, as Kane follows, slow and methodical. The announcers remind us of their history together: former Team Hell No partners, now bitter enemies on opposite sides of the Authority line.
The match starts off physical, with Kane using his power to control the pace early. He tosses Bryan around with big strikes and slows things down with a bear hug and some grounded offense. Bryan fights back with kicks to the legs and body, trying to chop the big man down.
It goes back and forth for a while, with Kane taking a clear advantage midway through the match. Kane hits a sidewalk slam for a two count, then goes for a top rope clothesline but gets caught with a dropkick mid-air. Bryan rallies with his signature corner dropkicks, then climbs to the top rope and lands a big missile dropkick that knocks Kane flat. He kips up to a huge ovation.
Bryan starts the "Yes!" Kicks in the middle of the ring and hits every single one, the final kick dropping Kane to a knee. Bryan backs into the corner and charges… running knee connects! He hooks the leg: 1.. 2.. 3!
Winner: Daniel Bryan [14:04]

The crowd cheers loudly as Bryan stands tall, arms raised, chanting "Yes!" with the crowd. He climbs to the middle rope, still celebrating… when suddenly, as he steps off the turnbuckle: RKO! Randy Orton had slid into the ring and planted Bryan with a brutal RKO, cutting the celebration short.
Orton stands over Bryan, holding the WWE Championship high in the air, soaking in the boos as the camera lingers on the image of Bryan laid out at his feet.

Michael Cole:
"Come on! What the hell is this? Bryan just fought his heart out and won that match fair and square!"

Booker T:
"That's the face of the company, dawg. Randy Orton's sendin' a message, loud and clear."

Michael Cole:
"Bryan stood up to Stephanie. He beat Kane, and he proved everything he said tonight… and THIS is the thanks he gets? I thought Randy wasn’t even here tonight!"

“VOICES” plays over the speakers to a chorus of boos. The final shot is Orton doing his signature pose, holding the title above his head as RAW fades to black.

Tuesday Night Heat
January 7th, 2014 – Cleveland, OH

We're welcomed to Sunday Night Heat by our commentators Tom Phillips and Renee Young. They welcome us to the very first ever edition of WWE Tuesday Night Heat, and announce the main event tonight of Dolph Ziggler vs Evan Bourne.

MATCH 1:
The Usos vs. Danny Burch & Scott Dawson

Jimmy and Jey Uso open up the show tonight, bringing a lot of energy from the get-go to get the fans into it. They’re facing off against the hard-nosed team of Danny Burch and Scott Dawson, two upcoming NXT talents. Burch and Dawson tried to slow things down with stiff strikes and grinding holds, but The Usos eventually found their rhythm. After a bit of back-and-forth, and with Burch and Dawson getting in some more offense than expected, Jey got the hot tag and cleaned house before finishing it off with a top rope splash to Dawson for the pin.
Winners: The Usos

SEGMENT 1:
RAW Rewind – Daniel Bryan’s Rollercoaster Night

A video package recaps the chaotic night Daniel Bryan had on RAW. It starts with his heated exchange in the ring with Stephanie McMahon, where Bryan called out The Authority for stacking the deck against him. Highlights follow of Bryan battling Kane in the main event and scoring a hard-fought clean win. Just as he began to celebrate, the clip ends with Randy Orton blindsiding Bryan with an RKO and standing tall over him with the WWE Championship.

MATCH 2:
Naomi vs Aksana

A competitive back-and-forth match with both women looking to stand out in the Divas division. Aksana tries to play against Naomi’s strengths and slow things down, grounding Naomi with a couple of well-placed slams, and locking in a few holds. But Naomi fights back with speed and athleticism, stringing together a quick burst of offense. She eventually connects with a jumping enziguri, then heads to the top and lands the split-legged moonsault for the win.
Winner: Naomi

After the match, Naomi is on the ramp headed to the back when Tamina comes from behind the stage and flatlines her with a huge body check. Tamina picks Naomi up and hits her with a Samoan drop right on the stage. A kid in the crowd yells "WHY?" and Tamina snaps back at him "Because I can!". Tamina exits as medical staff comes to check on Naomi.

SEGMENT 3:
Backstage with Tyson Kidd and Santino Marella

Tyson Kidd and Santino Marella are shown talking backstage. Santino’s in a good mood, laughing off what happened on RAW and making jokes about getting flattened by Drew McIntyre. He tells Tyson that if you want to entertain, then you can’t win them all. Santino says as long as he’s entertaining the crowd, then he’s happy. Kidd chuckles a little, but the more Santino talks, the more his expression changes. Santino says, “Guys like us, you know, we’re the glue that keeps things fun around here! We may never be title contenders but at least we’re having a good time!” Tyson doesn’t say much, just kind of nods and walks off mid-conversation while Santino’s still rambling. The camera hangs on Tyson for a second as he disappears around the corner, something clearly sitting with him.

SEGMENT 4:
The Wyatt Family wreaks havoc on RAW

We cut to a video recap of The Wyatt Family’s ambush on Cody Rhodes and Goldust from RAW. It shows the sneak attack backstage, with Harper and Rowan overwhelming the tag champs, and leaving them laid out.
The footage transitions into Bray Wyatt’s eerie post-attack promo. Highlights of his words echo under dark visuals: “The world forgets how easy it is to get lost. But we remember.”
The video ends with Bray staring directly into the camera and then hard cuts to pitch black.

MATCH 3:
Dolph Ziggler vs Evan Bourne

In the main event, Dolph Ziggler and Evan Bourne square off in a fast-paced, high-energy match. The two fan favorites trade momentum throughout, with Bourne showing off his speed and agility, while Ziggler leans into his athleticism and timing. After a strong back-and-forth that keeps the crowd engaged, Bourne misses the Air Bourne, giving Ziggler the opening he needs to hit the Zig Zag for the win.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler

Post-match, Ziggler helps Bourne up and the two shake hands in a clear sign of mutual respect as the show wraps up.

A side note from me:
Hi, I'm Tyler. I hope you all enjoy this split between myself and Hajj. We both have very contrasting writing styles, and while I hope you enjoy both of our shows, I feel like you should be able to at least enjoy one of them depending on your taste for writing. My RAWs will normally be longer with detailed promos, while my Heats will be shorter, concise and to the point. I also don't enjoy writing matches at all, so I hope they're okay enough to get through. I'll definitely try to make the PPV matches more quality. Excited to be apart of this forum!

- WWE Smackdown: January 10th, 2014

- The episode starts off hot as the champ, John Cena, makes his way out. Cena says last week left a bad taste in his mouth. He isn’t happy with what happened with CM Punk and he wants to offer him a rematch TONIGHT. CM Punk is out and accepts, but says we gotta make sure that this is settled. So how about a 15 foot high steel cage? No DQ’s, no escape. Cena smirks and says it’s on as both men share an intense handshake.
87

- 10 Man Royal Rumble for #1 Contendership
We see entrant #1 is the NEW IC champion, the Miz! He’s got Alex Riley by his side as commentary says this alliance paid off right away and now it’s possible he could hold two pieces of gold. His smirk quickly disappears as Big E Langston is #2, and he beelines to the ring taking out A-Ry before battering the Miz!

He tosses him for the full two minutes before out steps #3 Mark Henry! The world's strongest man doesn’t play favorites as he starts tossing both men around. Eventually Miz & Big E work together to try with a double clothesline before both men attack each other.

Out at #4 is a change of pace as Sin Cara makes his entrance. He heads in hot with a big springboard dropkick to Miz. He hits a few other high flying moves but his momentum is stopped suddenly with a big mid air headbutt from Henry.

#5 is Big Show as Styles says they aren’t getting any smaller. Show starts smashing everything in site before catching Sin Cara off a crossbody, pressing him overhead and sending him out of the ring (Elimination #1: Sin Cara).

Henry and Show lock eyes when out comes #6… Ryback! The big guy shows no fear as he slides into the ring and it’s a three way brawl. They batter each other with big moves as the fresh Ryback starts handing out Meathook clotheslines.

Out next comes #7 Kofi Kingston. Commentary brings up his penchant for surviving rumbles and this would be a big one to win! Kofi hits some big kicks but his momentum is stopped with a chop to the chest from Show.

#8 next and it’s Damien Sandow. He approaches with caution and circles the ring, taking as long as possible to enter this match. When he does enter he sneaks up as the rest of the field team up on Big Show, sending him over the top rope and to the floor! (Elimination #2: Big Show).

Out steps #9 Fandango. As he dances down the ramp an angry Big Show socks him with the WMD, sending him to the floor. In the ring Miz is finally tossed out when Big E Langston bundles him out from behind! (Elimination #3: The Miz) A-Ry grabs at Big E now as does Miz, leaving a chance to Sandow to sneak up and toss him out (Elimination #4: Big E Langston).

The luckiest man of the night is out next, and it’s #10 Christian! He enters the fray as commentators aren’t sure who got this. Mark Henry has Kofi all the way back to the ring post, but Kofi manages to slip into a hurricanrana and send Henry toppling over the ropes! (Elimination #5: Mark Henry). Ryback follows up by shoving Kofi over, but Henry catches him and puts him on the ring barrier before saying ‘Good luck’. Christian and Sandow try to work together on Ryback, but the big guy powers through and hits a big double meathook. Meanwhile Kofi gets Paul Heyman’s chair and pogo hops his way back to the ring to a big pop! What an escape! Back in the ring and the 4 men pair off. Eventually Kofi manages to hit the Trouble In Paradise that sends Sandow over the top and out (Elimination #6 Damien Sandow).

Ryback grabs him afterwards and tosses Kofi over the top and out, no escape this time (Elimination #7: Kofi Kingston). Ryback then turns into some strikes and Christian goes toe to toe with the big guy! Eventually his momentum is stopped with a big spinebuster. He scoops Christian onto his shoulder and tries to send him over, but Fandango slides in and tosses both men over the top rope! (Elimination #8: Ryback). Christian just manages to hold on as Fandango desperately tries to send him off the apron. Eventually he goes for a big rope assisted kick but Christian ducks and scoops Fandango up and over with a backdrop from the ring apron! (Elimination #9: Fandango)

The fans cheer as Christian celebrates and commentary says it looks like it’s ‘One More Match’ for Captain Charisma and the world title!
68/81/65

- We get a short interlude with Shane McMahon. He confirms tonight's main event steel cage match and congratulates Christian. He also presents a special video about a pair of talents debuting tonight in the tag team tournament.

We get some sit down interview footage with NXT’s Sami Zayn. Sami says he’s been working in the ‘underground’ of wrestling for years but this is his shot. As much as he loves NXT, his dream was always to be in the WWE and what better partner could he ask for then him? We then cut to Colt Cabana, who introduces himself. He says he had a cup of coffee some years ago as Scotty Goldman, but under the leadership of Shane McMahon he’s ready to take another shot at the big time. Cabana mentions his love and passion for the business saying that while he loves to have fun, that doesn’t mean he can’t get it done in the ring. He couldn’t ask for a better partner than Zayn, noting they’ve teamed up a few times already and states they both know this could be their last shot at the big time.
87

- We go back live as 3MB (Or ⅔ of it) are in the ring in Heath Slater & Jinder Mahal. Slater says that Drew may think he’s better off alone, but he’s forgetting strength in numbers! He promises that while they are 2MB for now, they will find a third member again and that’ll be a lot easier when they beat two ‘nobodies’. Mahal describes the two are ring veterans of the WWE and two nobodies won’t beat them!
64

- World Tag Team Championship Quarter-Finals
2MB (Heath Slater & Jinder Mahal) vs. Sami Zayn & Colt Cabana

We get a solid bout here but it’s mostly a showcase for Zayn & Cabana. The two show off their exciting movesets with Mahal and Slater looking outclassed. There’s a late run but in the end Slater misses a corner splash and blind tag and eats the Helluva Kick for the 3 as the ‘rookies’ move on.
65-68-78

- We get a backstage interview as Josh Matthews is with William Regal as his entourage of women. Regal says tonight Mercedes Martinez and Mellisa Flash, two of the most seasoned athletes in all of the WWE, will be teaching a wrestling clinic to Kaitlyn and Alicia Fox. He tells them it’s not their fault they’ve only faced other pampered, undisciplined women. Tonight is a reality check. The bar is raised, and it’s up to them and the rest of the roster to match it.
80

- Mercedes Martinez & Mellisa Flash w/ William Regal & Sara Del Ray vs. Kaitlyn & Alicia Fox
A solid bout here as Flash and Martinez show great chemistry, working over Fox and building to the hot tag. Regal is on commentary and puts over both women’s experience and again reiterates that Shane McMahon asked him to get wrestlers, no Divas. That’s why these women are dangerous. They aren’t here to be on the cover of magazines, they are here to win. In the end that proves difficult as Kaityn gets the hot tag and is a house of fire. Still late in the match Del Ray distracts Alicia Fox, leaving her to get tripped up and put into the Kondo Clutch (Figure-Four Cloverleaf) for the submission loss.
65-71-75

- Backstage and we see Curt Hawkins getting ready when Zack Ryder walks in. Ryder brings up their big win on Velocity and says they are so back bro. Hawkins seems less confident bringing up the Matadores win on Velocity and experience as a team. Ryder says to not sweat it, they may be like bros… but they aren’t Broskis! Hawkins looks annoyed as he grabs his cane and the two head to the ring.
68

- World Tag Team Championship Quarter-Finals
The Major Broskis (Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins) vs. Los Matadores (Diego & Fernando) w/ El Torito

Some excellent tag team work here as all 4 men put together a really solid TV match. Ryder is the face in peril as the Matadores use quick tags to isolate the internet champion. Eventually he manages to get the tag to Hawkins and the match evens out from there. In the end it’s El Torito who proves the difference maker. Hawkins manages to grab a cane but Ryder tries to stop him. As they argue El Torito tries to come in with a springboard but the two men duck and he takes out Fernando by mistake! Diego drags Ryder out as the official is distracted long enough for a big cane shot as Hawkins steals the 3! The Matadores chew out El Torito after the match, with the Bull looking sad while Heyman says this is all his fault!
72/73/87

- We see the brand new #1 contender Christian heads to the ring as commentary says he’ll be joining them for the big main event tonight, and that’s up next!
90

- World Heavyweight Championship Steel Cage
John Cena © vs. CM Punk

The live crowd seems electric, as Christian is out first and takes a seat at ringside. Next is CM Punk and Christian gets over his accolades. He stands up as Punk nears the table and offers his hand, as Punk just smirks as says he’ll see him ‘At the rumble’. Next out is Cena as Christian describes him as one of the greatest of all time. The leader of the Cenation also heads to ringside, offering to shake Christians hand as the two men have a staredown. Heyman asks if Christian has a preferred opponent, but Christian just hopes they are both healthy so there’s no excuse when he becomes world champion again.

The two stars have an intense staredown, eyeing up the door before rushing each other and throwing hands. Cena gets the better but Punk is able to turn momentum when he reverses a spinout backdrop and DDT’s him. Neither man seems to want to leave as Styles says these men have a lot of pride and a lot to prove here. Punk’s offense focuses on the neck with some rest holds and strikes seeming to want to set up for a submission. Cena meanwhile turns back by attacking Punk’s neck as well. The cage itself does play it’s part with Punk getting darted into the cage wall and Cena also feeling the steel with a nasty suplex jamming him between the steel and ropes. Late in the bout Cena finally seems to have Punk ready for the Attitude Adjustment but Punk slips free and locks in the Anaconda Vice! Cena struggles until he manages to get under the ropes and uses them to break up the hold. Punk strikes him into the cage a few more times but his running knee attack is dodged. Cena then climbs up and nails a leg drop to the doubled over Punk using the cage and top rope! Cena signals once more for the AA but again Punk knees his way out before scooping up Cena and hitting the GTS! He crawls over. 1… 2…

Kickout! Punk looks shocked and starts crawling to the door, an ‘act of cowardice’ according to Heyman. He slowly approaches as the officials open the door, but when he tries to step through the door is slammed against his shoulder and head by Christian! He gets another one as the crowd boo. Punk stumbles to the middle of the ring where a recovered Cena scoops him up and nails the AA for the 3! The fans give a loud, mixed response as the cage raises. Christian grabs the world title and then nails Cena before standing over both men, holding the belt up to close the show.
83/100/79

Final Thoughts:
Well, an unexpected heel turn, but a needed one with how thin Smackdown is on that side. Some solid ring work although the crowd just felt kind of off tonight. Still a lot of stuff set up for Royal Rumble as Smackdown tries to re-establish itself.

- WWE Velocity: January 11th, 2014

- Our show opens with Alex Riley & The Miz heading to the ring. Miz has a mic and says that sometimes, we don’t know what we’ve got until it’s gone. When he and A-Ry were together, they were the top stars in the WWE. He was the US champion, money in the bank, world champion… and after just one night back together he’s got the IC title. A-Ry says he agrees. He learned so much as the protege of the Miz. Now reunited it’s only a matter of time until both men are back to the top of Smackdown.
81

- Alex Riley w/ The Miz vs. Ezekiel Jackson
Commentary says Riley is facing Big E on Smackdown, and this is an interesting opponent since Zeke is not just a former IC and ECW champion, but also a powerhouse like Big E. This is a solid if unspectacular match that sees Miz interference late which lets A-Ry hit Zeke with the IC title and pin him to win.
68/67/70

- Backstage with the Prime Time Players as Titus O’Neil says his boy Darren Young has Zack Ryder tonight, and the ‘Broskies’ on Smackdown. Darren chimes in saying that Hawkins and Ryder don’t vibe like the PTP and while they might have won once it’s gut check time tonight! The two end promising a big win and once they get those tag titles it’ll be Millions Of Dollars, ect.
79

- Darren Young w/ Titus O’Neil vs. Zack Ryder w/ Curt Hawkins
We get a real solid TV match as both guys work a clean, back and forth contest. The end is far from clean however, as Hawkins manages to get in an undetected shot with his cane on Darren Young as he prepares to put Ryder in the Gut Check. Long Island Iced Z takes advantage (Although he doesn’t realize it) with the Rough Ryder to get the win and big momentum! As he celebrates an angry Titus shoves him from behind before Hawkins drags Ryder out, leaving Zack confused as both men head to the back.
74/66/83

- Another backstage interview, this time with Colt Cabana & Sami Zayn. The two talk about their big debut win, and say they can’t wait to test themselves tonight and on Smackdown against the Real Americans. Sami says he’s already had his wars in NXT with Cesaro but the two men are ready to fight for their shot to make history as the FIRST tag team champions!

- Sami Zayn & Colt Cabana vs. Curtis Axel & David Otunga
Josh Matthews notes that Otunga and Axel are actually former tag champions themselves. They do get in some offense in a pretty solid bout but this is mostly a showcase for Zayn & Cabana which ends with Colt applying the Chicago Crab (Reverse Boston Crab) on Axel for the submission win and big momentum here tonight.

- We get a promo from Zeb Colter and his Real Americans. He says that his boys are destined to wear the tag team titles. There’s no better unit in the WWE than his boys, and he won’t let some ‘Canadian’ and turncoat end his dreams. He promises tonight will be an example as they take out a pair of masked foreigners, Los Matadores, and show how dangerous they are.

- Real Americans (Jack Swagger & Antonio Cesaro) w/ Zeb Colter vs. Los Matadores (Diego & Fernando) w/ El Torito
An absolute banger on Velocity here, as the two talented teams get plenty of time to put together a great TV match. Commentary says the Matadores got upset after a mistake from El Torito, but this time he keeps out of the mix. After an extended heat segment the hot tag finally comes as Diego is a house of fire. He hits a variety of wicked looking aerial attacks including a big springboard DDT onto the ring apron. Later Zeb Colter tries to get involved, with El Torito and him arguing at ringside. The distraction is enough as Swagger manages to chop Diego’s leg before slapping on the Patriot Lock for the submission.

Final Thoughts:
Some solid ring work here, with a banger main event. Some decent memos and they progressed stories quite well. Another solid B-Show here.

News & Rumours:

- Christians heel turn seemed to go over well with creative, excited to see how his program with Cena does with a more traditional face/heel feud. It’s also expected to involve Punk to some degree, but we’d expect more to be explained Friday.

- The rest of the heels on the roster have also been featured fairly well. Miz has been pushed into the IC title scene right away while Ryback and the Real Americans have also been put into bigger spots.

- Sami & Colt had a strong debut with both men getting a great reaction during their debut video, although their ring work hasn’t been at a level some might’ve expected. The bar is high for their Friday clash with Cesaro & Swagger, with many expecting it to be a show stealer.

- After not being featured week one Fandango got a big spot, almost winning the top contendership. He’s expected to be featured more regularly going forward, likely also going to be paired with another worker according to rumours.
