I’ve seen a lot of people picking Cody around the internet and it just makes zero sense to me from a storyline standpoint. Turn Cena just to have him immediately fail? Cody has had zero struggle since winning so he just keeps going with nothing lined up? Cena laid out the right story for the year…he’s winning and leaving with the belt forever when 2025 is over. The rest of the year becomes a chase for someone to prevent that from happening in his sparse appearances to defend the title. That’s exciting. What’s the alternative? Cody vs…Drew McIntyre for a month before it’s back to Rollins or, god forbid, Solo again?
Unless they have a massive plan for Cena post Mania that’s better than the ultimate company guy literally threatening to take the history of the company with him when he goes…I would consider a loss an all time fumble of opportunity.
