Perhaps that would explain the presence of Ace Steel at BfG Chicago. That was the rumour at the time but I didn't necessarily believe or indeed want to believe that

I can't remember if he's outright said it, but it's pretty obvious Scott was trying to make big plays for Punk and Ospreay, and my personal theory is that's where the disputes between him and Anthem became irreconcilable

I defintely remember that Punk thing being something close enough that they thought it was going to happen. He wanted to go to WWE but there was definitely a window where it was unsure if that was happening that soon. A lot of burned bridge on each side that needed to be rebuilt and Punk had visited backstage TNA a few times.

They also definitely made a big money shorter term offer to Ospreay. Scott loves him. Will had better money and more term available in both WWE and AEW though. That thing about him growing up watching TNA and wanting to come back and do the last Alexander match to put him over was real though. TNA got him for that week for three big matches from their New Japan relationship at the time. Coming back to wrestle under the relaunched TNA name and lose on his way out of a company he never really worked for was all Will wanting to do it. He certainly didn’t have to come in and lay down on his way to AEW. Guy owed TNA nothing. Love of the game stuff.

Scott was definitely big game hunting at the end.

If this was the Panda Energy era, they would have done everything in their power to get Punk and Ospreay. Dixie Carter did not care.

Highest rated segment of punk v MJF feud. Over 7 million views. Would of done a helluva lot for TNA , it could still happen though if moose goes WWE . I can't see Punk going to TNA as he's on the main roster . Man it would of been so good seeing that. Oba feud has been good this far.

I wonder what TNA would have looked like if they somehow did get Punk or Ospreay. Anthem don't fire Scott, presumably, and the company gets a crazy amount of buzz without needing to partner with WWE :DAMN:
