This really is such a time capsule for when this stuff was written. The old graphic for Raw is such a throwback. As someone who has read the Raw where Cena tells the world “you can hate me now” fairly recently because of this journey you’ve taken us on, the jump between the writing here and what it ends up being is rather big. You can tell by the end how comfortable you are with these characters and also how different they are from their real-life counterparts.
You can see the seeds begin to be planted for someone like Benoit to really get into gear heading into Mania season. A twenty-minute classic to end the year just because seems about right.
Kurt Angle being absolutely delusional as he continues to chase Bret is an all-time funny angle. The way Angle finds any small action to work within his own narrative is just fantastic.
Christian coming out with the poll percentage on his shirt makes me laugh. It’s so weird to see where he is right now compared to where he’s going to end up by the end of the journey.
I personally never really connected with the DX stuff. I can’t recall when it really wraps up, but it’s just so jarring to see DX in this period, even though they aren’t that far from being around IRL.
As we get more weekly shows, it’s going to be interesting to track Edge as well through his growth and how long it takes him to get to that legit main event status.
Keep ‘em coming, mate. Such a fun journey.
