Chuck Taylor's Grenade

I'm not sure how long this is gonna be but just be warned now. This is something that has been pissing me off about wrestling and wrestling fans in general. Everybody says that it's the promoter/bookers fault that wrestlers aren't over. The promoter is not responsible for getting people over. The promoter is responsible for putting promos and matches together that based on trends and experience will draw the most money. The wrestlers are responsible for getting themselves over. But most wrestlers don't understand that. They expect to be able to just drop the X-Box controller, go out to the ring, go through the motions, and come back to the X-Box and still get over with the crowd. And to anybody who says that people aren't getting over because they aren't getting enough TV time-bullshit. It does not matter how much tv time a person is given. A good worker should be able to be on TV for a minute and still get himself and whatever angle he's in over. That's something that most wrestlers seem incapable of. Some wrestlers call it being able to talk the people into the seats. If someone can have a 10-15 minute match/segment and no one remembers it what's the point? It's better to have a 5 minute segment that everyone remembers than a 20 minute segment nobody remembers.
Now this brings me to the second part of this rant. This part deals with the issue of motivation. We hear all the time about certain wrestlers getting depushed for being unmotivated. Most recent example being Carlito. Do I even need to explain this one? A motivated wrestler will do far better in the ring than an unmotivated person. The best example of this is the Big Show. Before his feud with Shane McMahon in 1999-2000 took him off TV for a while he sucked balls. He was out of shape and his matches were crap. Then he came back and it was like a whole different person. The same thing happened again with his most recent return. A motivated fat fuck can in most cases put on an as good if not better match than an unmotivated in-shape wrestler. Plus motivation goes along with getting over. Think of some of the goofiest and most Blue gimmicks in the past that got over bigger than everyone thought they would. This was because the wrestler doing it was motivated to get the most out of it. But that's not the way wrestlers operate these days. They'd rather blame someone else or are too busy playing video games. Which is the same thing Triple H said in an interview (wow I actually agree with Triple H about something). If more wrestlers would actually act like they give a shit maybe just maybe they'd get over with the crowd and would actually get a push.
There you go. Just needed to get that outta my system. I'm SpiralShock and I approve this message.
