Long buildups are almost gone. They have been killed and taken from the planet, dumped off on some planet out of our galaxy, possibly to never return.
Why? Because apparently shocking the crowd is now more important than a long build to an emotional match. TNA and WWE both now seem to swerve for the sake of swerving. The most builtup thing seems to be Orton vs Triple H @ WM (well, it looks like going that way) with the whole McMahon thing. But even that seems to be booked to be 'unexpected' and as some kind of 'swerve'. TNA meanwhile seems to be booking the breakup of the MEM. Don't be surprised if that's a swerve too.
The days of booking in advance seem to be past. Now the viewers have to be shocked at every turn instead of drawn in emotionally. Quite honestly, it sucks.
Thoughts?
