Who cares what caused it really? Chris Brown basically if he is going to continue making music will really need to rework his image. He likely wont be doing much of anything for at least 6-8 months.

Police sources say that they took photos of the victim's injuries, which they called "horrific" - major contusions on both sides of the face, and her lip was split and nose was bloody. There was also "serious swelling and bruising," as well as several bite marks on her arm and several fingers.
Rihanna refused treatment at the crime scene, but permitted the photos; she later sought medical attention at an L.A. hospital. The photos were described as "devastating proof of abuse." Rihanna told police her assailant did the damage solely with his fists and did not have any weapons.
MTV speculates a strain on the relationship due to constant visibility and rumors of infidelity on both sides.
Reports say both were present at Grammy rehearsals on Friday, though not at the same time. A witness describes Chris Brown as he was leaving as "cranky and sullen. He did not look approachable at all."
Brown also arrived alone to Timbaland and Rihanna's pre-Grammy party later that night. The two were together only a short amount of time while there. They later appeared together at Clive Davis' party.
Brown was supposed to participate in an All-Star Celebrity Game for the NBA this weekend, as well as introduce the Western Conference All-Stars. He has since canceled.
