In Jim Ross' latest SmackDown This column on the WWE Universe site, he says he doesn't want to see Mickey Rourke wrestle Chris Jericho at WrestleMania. "...Rourke really doesn't have any business getting in a high-level, memory making match at the biggest event of the year, WrestleMania XXV," Ross wrote. "I loved Rourke’s role as Randy "The Ram" Robinson in "The Wrestler" and even saw the film twice. However, the brash Jericho accurately pointed out that playing a wrestler on film with the ability to have multiple takes for a scene, etc is a far cry from actually getting in the ring live without a net or the ability to do a re-take against a man who is proud, egocentric and not willing to compromise his skill level or legacy to a Golden Globe winner or not." Ross continued: "Don't do it Mickey. Do come to Houston; enjoy a great presentation at the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania, have fun, but stay out of the ring. Or do what in the hell you want."

Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Irvin was in attendance at last night's Florida Championship Wrestling television taping in Tampa, Florida, reports PWInsider.com

Don't really know what to make of that, cause it was on the wwe universe site, and not his usual blog, so I'm assuming it was in kayfabe a bit, but whatever.

Eh, I think he might be a manager or accompany Jericho's opponent, like Alice Cooper & Jake Roberts.

He was a professional boxer, not an actor.

Big difference. Plus, he didn't do any wrestling moves, just boxing.

Montana also doesn't want to see Rourke in the ring at Wrestlemania.

^^ Stole my line. :smh

'CT doesn't want Rourke at WM' imo.

I'm not happy with the whole promoting of the film on WWE TV.

I also don't want Rourke there. Don't waste Wrestlemania airtime on what is basically a publicity stunt to show the world "hey, we saw The Wrestler, we are not like that, WWE is Wrestler Heaven, Vince McMahon is Jesus, look at our frickin wellness policy. It's bitchin'." Because really, that's all it is. The wrestler threw up bile all over the wrestling industry, so bringing Rourke in, by some weird logic, makes WWE seem like they're accepting of the film but also nothing like it, or something. They tried to slip that little tidbit into their review of the movie, and now this. They need to realize that most people don't care and the rest of them don't believe WWE anyway.

In short, don't waste Jericho's talent on this and don't waste Wrestlemania airtime unless you get an actual celebrity.
