Orton's mic work was notably much improved even before his injury... The way he and HHH reinvigorated interest in, what many had already deemed a stale fued last year, with their mic work was fucking awesome!

The pre-ONS promo where they ended up nose for nose, in particular, was sick!!!

Not gonna get caught up in the whole Edge v Orton debate, but I will say this... Orton has a way more captivating presence than anyone in WWE (INCLUDING Taker and the likes of Show, Khali or whoever.).

I don't think Edge is any more capable in the ring than Orton. Orton is the best seller in the WWE, so he has Edge beaten in that department. Both draw heat effectively and both have great matches. If anything, I'd give the slight edge (wewt, pun) to Orton.

I wouldn't give the edge to Orton until I see him cut a promo as well as he is doing now, in more persona's than Edge has. Edge has cut promos brilliantly in lots of different kinds of persona's. Orton has only reached Edge's promo ability now, and that is using one type of character, he needs to do it again, and consistently over several different types of characters.

However, imo, Orton IS the best seller in the WWE, and, also imo, is one of the best in the ring, not too far behind Jericho and HBK.

I'll take time out to say that Evan Bourne, Kofi Kingston and Jack Swagger aren't too far behind Orton too.

Until Orton can bring some humor into the mix, Edge is by far the greatest at cutting promos (just see his promo about Flair's road rage).

Not to mention, back when E&C were doing the "___ rules" promos. Dude, that had to be the greatest part of Edge & Christian's tag career outside of the ring... "Sodas? Dude, soda's RULE!"

Orton's getting great, but he's still not toppling Edge. I think he's craftier than Edge in the ring though... from a calculating standpoint, but Edge has shown he can last 45 minutes in an entertaining match from beginning to end. Orton matches can have their downfall. The only thing that saves any boring moments in an Orton match is the threat of a punt or RKO at ANY given moment... so you're always glued and captivated.

I agree with what was said above though... Edge shouldn't be stuck in the Vickie storyline anymore. He's too good for all that. Edge's character is best when he's fighting for something, not when he's "edging" past everything... that's who he is, that's when he shines. His "spark" that Foley mentioned is what makes him great.

At the moment, Orton is more captivating. Edge needs to be freed and given his own little creative control to some shit. He's a genius.

Orton may not have gotten to edges level yet cause edge has been in the wwe since 1998 orton 2002. Hes had 4 years more promos, matches, and practice in promos. Orton will overtake edge in promos and ring work soon trust me. Hes only 28 years of age man come on give the guy a bit of credit. I like both Orton and Edge and think they can take wwe as the best heels in 20 years into 2010.

You don't need to play too many characters at a time. He's playing his current gimmick perfectly, just like Edge is. He hasn't played his roles as well in the past because he has improved to the point where he is just as good. Your point is [ractically saying that he isn't as good as Edge because he's improved.
