As we reported before, Hulk Hogan called into the Bubba The Love Sponge Show the other day and commented on a possible match with Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 25. While he did not indicate whether or not the match would take place, he did say that he would have no problem putting Steve Austin over at the big event. However, just a few days later, Jim Ross posted a blog on his website indicating that Austin would never wrestle again, and now Prowrestling.net is reporting that sources close to Hogan are saying that the match has almost no chance of taking place at Mania, although that does not rule out a potential Hogan appearance at the show. The source was quoted as saying "Steve is in no shape to work with anybody, it's impossible for him to bump and have a match." In addition to Austin's injuries, it's no mystery that Hogan is also battling years of wear and tear on his body, and therefore the work rate of a match between the two superstars would most likely have to be severely limited.
Is that it? The whole Austin/'Mania thing over? Was there ever any real proof that it would happen?

^^^Proof? ...Of course not.

A few rumours from the wrestle-rags and lots of internet speculation; that is all.

Like I said..

Was it ever really official? I mean, he said he'd have one last match and people just assumed he'd be at 'Mania 25 because it was in Texas. I think someone just assumed and it had the rolling snowball effect.

But you gotta admit - and it's been said ad nauseam by me - one medium-impact bump to Austin's neck region could result in paralysis.

The first former wrestler in line for a recall at XXV must be The Rock - only because the guy is fit, his full-time work is very active and his overall wellness is fine.

Wait and see.

I think I called that one in the other thread.

I kind of knew Austin would never work a full match again, he's fine for a stunner or two, or possibly even five, but that is as far as he will go again.

He will still be involved with WM in some way, whether that be an enforcing role or a manager of sorts, he will be there!

Weren't people saying anyway that it would be a shit match because of the condition these two would be in? But there was never any proof of it happening. Just with WM being in Texas this year, and then the whole "Hogan would be willing to lay down to Austin" article, and from their it toke off.

Meh, whatever.
I'd rather not see Hogan "wrestle" again anyways. And Austin can still maybe make an appearance.
I wanted him to wrestle, but TBH, if the rumor was about Austin v Hogan, I'm kinda glad it won't be happening.

Unless he's putting over the Legend Killer, than screw that. What does Austin and Hogan have to prove anymore? Nothing really..

Hogan probably said he'd put over Austin because he knew Austin wouldn't make it to WM for a match. :shifty:

You might wanna point that part out in your original post.

Regardess, I was simply answering your rhetorical question.

I, like many others in this thread, had already expressed in other threads that felt that Austin v Hogan, as a match, would have been a complete shit sandwich given the physical condition of them both.

Although it would have been a limited one, fact is that it would have been a classic WrestleMania match.

It's sad to hear this news :disgust1:

^^^Maybe if they dropped their characters altogether and faced off as two injured guys gutting it out for right's to claim themselves the 'ultimate hall of famer'.

Otherwise, no, it'd stink once the bell rang.
