News on a possible Randy Orton face turn!

There have been some people on WWE’s creative team who want to turn Randy Orton face, realizing that he has it with the young male demographic and despite how they book him and what he does, he always gets cheered.

The feeling is they’re going with the idea that is way too early for a full fledged face turn for Orton if they want to get The Legacy storyline off the ground and have it be a successful program. The angle with Orton and the second generation talents is expected to have many interesting turns in the next few months.

Once the Legacy storyline subsides I say book him bad-ass and just let those who wanna cheer him cheer him. Would be a damn shame if they killed off the coldhearted bastard side of his persona.... That psychotic stare and his pre-RKO foaming at the mouth is paramount to the Orton-experience IMO.

I agree, keep the badass thing going for a long time. The closest he should get to being face is attacking heels that "stand in his way." The Legacy group should just be loners who do what they want to get ahead. That will give them enough heat to be heel, but enough distance from the rest of the heels to be tweeners.

the physco legend killer couldn't give a fuck about anyone side of Orton is wicked and his best trait. I really don't think a face Orton would work. He is just one of those stars that needs to stay heel thats what they do best. Same goes for Trips IMO yes he can pull of been a face but that is mainly due to DX. But he really is better as a nasty bastard heel. And Orton is the same he should stay heel he sucks as a face.

Lul. Dude, you have only ever seen him face once. He has quite obviously improved as a wrestler and actor, give him a chance. How do you know he sucks as a face.

The central point is that he is getting cheered as a heel. From a kayfabe standpoint, as pointless of a stand that it is, you cant have that and still try to make the product realistic. If we are to at least pretend that kayfabe is alive then we gotta go with the flow on whos face and who's heel.

Its not the point that hes a badass as to why hes getting cheered, its the fact that hes getting cheered in the first place. If you want Orton to be a heel, then boo him. Cheering him will get the exact reverse effect you want, ala now WWE wants to turn Orton face, and then you will end up turning on him and booing him again.

But if the end result will have you boo him anyway, whats the harm of just playing along and booing him now so that you dont have to go through the "torture" of an Orton face run?

Horrible, his gimmick right now suits him almost as perfect as possible. He has everything going for him right now, why try to change that? Wouldn't WWE want there future to be both cheered and get heat as well? That means he is getting over on a level were even as a heel people will still like him, thats good news right? The only thing you are doing by turning him face is killing off his gimmick, which has worked probably more than any other gimmick in the WWE for a while. So please WWE, leave him be.

While I agree with each and everyone of you, you have to see it from a WWE stand point. Their Number One Heel is getting CHEERED. And no, no little pops, but standing ovations, so, in their booking stand point, while it does show he is amazingly over, it doesn't work, as when put with a babyface they intend to get cheered, Orton, the heel doing amazingly bad thigs, outpops the face.


However, I think the report is bullshit. Edge gets cheers and chants of his name and he's not getting turned, Cena got booed as the biggest heel of the company being a face, and there was never an intention to turn him, so I don't think it will happen.


However, it will happen. Sooner or later, it will happen Randy Orton will either do two things, become the babyface and carry the WWE on his shoulders, or,WWE will introduce us to a new "Attitude Era" in which the persona of Orton as a badass is the face.



But trust me, Orton will be a face.

You kinda lost me in parts there, but in short, this is where tweeners can come into play. I assume you know of that Austin fella, yeah? ;o]

Besides, reversing the logic of your post..... A large portion of the audience had been booing Cena for, what... 12, 18 months, maybe more... Still no sign of WWE 'turning' him.



It also seems to be being overlooked, the fact, that Orton DOES still get heel heat.

Yeah and that was enough. TBH the only people who are cheering him well mostly are the smarks. And what would be the point of turning him heel ? We have Cena for that role. Plus Orton could be a Tweener rather than go Full face turn. I'm sure that that they would much rather go the Tweener route than face route. End of the day regardless of whether he has grown or not Orton is much better as heel. And if and when they turn him face and it all goes tits up i will pull this post as a i told ya so :smilewink:
