As was announced on Raw last night, we will see four matches next week pitting former world champions against each other. The winners will face off in a fatal fourway on Raw in two weeks to determine the number 1 contender.

The matches are; Orton vs Batista, Jericho vs Punk, JBL vs Rey, Kane vs HBK

I think the four winners will be Orton, Jericho, JBL and HBK.

As much as it pains me to say it, I think the favorite to win has to be JBL, with help from his new personal assistant HBK.

I actually see two scenarios happening:

1) JBL loses and he orders HBK to lose.

2) JBL tells HBK to help him win, he wins that way and then HBK win, only to then JBL tell him he needs to secure his victory at the 4way.

I take the 3rd pick.

HBK wins but then JBL loses and then seeing as JBL owns HBK he orders him to give him his spot in the 4 way the next week.

Jericho will end up winning it all. Whether Batista or Orton win, the one who loses will interfere in the Fatal Four Way. We'll get some sort of shenanigans with HBK and JBL (Probably leading to a match at RR), and Jericho will end up winning.

Not that I mind, since he and Cena seem to be unable to have a bad match with one another.

I think you're right. I bet JBL will win. Don't be surprised if he even beats Cena at a PPV for the title, like No Way Out maybe? And that would set up HBK turning face to face JBl at WM.
It's possible, but only if they have enough faith in JBL to ME WM again, which I doubt, but because HBK is there, they might do it.

Anywyas, I like the tournament idea. Tournaments always add some interest, and it'd be a good way to add to the HBK/JBL thing.

To be totally honest; I don't like the tournament or any kind of tournament this time of year even last year when Smackdown had a 'Beat the clock tournament challenge' for the numb 30. spot which I guess is ok in the end but I don't like numb one contender tournaments this time of year because.

1) Whats the point of making someone go through the tournament get a good push going through a line of main eventers to get himself a shot at WHC gold when you can just wait a week and give him the Rumble? isn't that what it is for.

Well with that being said that is my thoughts on the tournament / tourney.

But staying on topic this would be a good way to hype up the current HBK and JBL feud which I think neither of them will win actually I see them not being able to work as a unit/ if they even were one. Anyway i see them breaking down and count out / dq each other and Orton or Jericho get the tournament win.

It was for a Title match, not for a spot on the Rumble.

Dont know about you, but I prefer an actual title match than entering the Rumble where you MIGHT be the one who beats 29 other men and goes to Mania.

Besides, this tournament isn't happening until almost end of the year (next week is Tribute to the Troops), so as PWInsider.com said, they give the diehards that will be watching RAW on the 29th something interesting, but they won't make any real big developments until holiday's are over, as the real Number One Contender's Match will be until January.

Orton vs Batista

Batista will win to get momentum, maybe after disqualification for Legacy.

Jericho vs Punk

Punk is fighting for the IC, and how can't Jericho win this.

JBL vs Rey

JBL will beat Rey either by Knox interference or clean and Knox comes after.

Kane vs HBK

HBK will look like winning after hitting the Sweet Chin Music but then JBL comes out and tells him to lose due to being a threat, so HBK takes a countout loss.

Batista v Jericho v JBL v Kane

Kane gets eliminated first, probably somehow stemming from his new storyline. Next to go is JBL, cleanly. Then Jericho beats Batista after Legacy come out and beat Batista.

No way that happens.... Why would JBL want amonster like Kane in the 4-way rather than HBK (whom is his paid bitch)?

I like JBL winning this (with a BIG assist from HBK) for the sake of storyline advancement, but could really do without yet ANOTHER Cena/JBL match or, god forbid, another fued.

True I guess, I never thought of it that way. In that case I say HBK wins and in the 4 Way he is about to win and hits the SCM but JBL tells him that he should take the fall. He goes but gets hit with a codebreaker by Jericho. Jericho low blows or throws away HBK and wins the match to fight Cena in a gimmick match at the RR.

I love this idea. This >>>>>>>>>> than 'Orton/Y2J/Tista' get a shot because they ask for one.

Personally, HBK giving his spot to JBL is the best choce in that department. It adds a lot more to the storyline than Shawn helping Bradshaw to the win, and gives the crowd some more reason to boo Michaels, as nobody wants JBL in that match.

The winners: HBK, but JBL will take his spot in the Triple Threat, Orton, Jericho and Rey Rey

Looks like a good match except they should have rearanged it diffrently. Like putting Orton vs. Batista is lame they should have saved them two for the Fatal Four way and also Kane and Rey seem like there obviously just pawns. But who knows maybe WWE will suprise us again.

I think the reasoning behind giving us Orton vs Batista yet again is to make up for the disappointing match at Armageddon, as WWE expected something big and they just didn't click.

WWE really did a mistake by just throwing that match in Armageddon's midcard. Besides, somebody thought "hey, holds and submissions worked for Cena vs Batista, let's do it again", and it failed. The ending managed to drag the match into an acceptable rating.

Punk has no chance. Regal will interfere giving Y2J the nod.

The other matches can go anyway. JBL might qualify with help of Mike Knox attacking Rey. Kane has no chance. Either he gets DQed or HBK wins cleanly.

And finally, Orton wins capitalizing on Batista's injury. That, or they can go as far as having Batista beat Orton, but Orton kick Batista in the head again taking him completely out.
