Ok, so I'm having some trouble. I have an external drive (G drive) to keep all of my personal stuff on (all my music, and graphics), but recently for about the past couple days it's not showing up. Like the drive is there when I go into My Computer, but there's no files in there. So I try and unplug in and replug it in, and shows up for like 2 seconds that goes out again. So I have no music and can't save any files to it obviously. So basically I'm fucked atm. Any suggestions?

My brother said If he ever had this problem, then he would keep it plugged in from the start and just reboot your computer, but leave the drive in there. He used to have an extrenal drive, so he would be my first person to ask.

Does it show that there's space used when you right click on the drive and select properties?

Yeah, there's 465 GB and it says I've used 60.0 GB and have 405 GB free.

Plug in your External Hard Drive, right click on My Computer and go to Hardware>Device Manager.

Your Hard Drive should appear in the list, double click and select the disable device option then unplug your Hard Drive. Plug it in again, reboot your computer after startup go to the Device Manager again and select enable.

IF that doesn't work then I've got another solution for you but try this first.

Ok, so far nothing seems to have vanished, but now when I go to open up a few programs like last.fm and Limewire, a message pops up telling me they aren't valid Win32 applications.

TROJANS.

That's it, you've fucked up your computer/laptop and your external with viruses probably Win32 Parite that tells you the programs are not valid Win32 application. Format the external and your PC? .

Of course you're going to loose tons of important data but there is no alternate to this, try Kaspersky.

C4 is likely right and its largely your own fault.

Why the hell are you using limewire?

I mean that's like going out trying to find a hooker and saying "Excuse me do you have AIDS? No? Okay. I guess I'm just going to have to keep looking then!"

Fuck. When I logged on here tonight, everything in the folders was gone again. And I have Kaspersky btw. Problem is, nothing in the G drive stays there long enough for me to scan it because it goes out.

And I've used Limewire for years now and never had problems. I seriously doubt that is the problem.

EDIT- Where are you btman?

Monkeystyle is right. Limewire is the worst. I have a friend at work that was still using it and only recently just started having a problem. Its like unprotected sex, you may have gotten lucking and not got knocked up, but all of the sudden bam, bun in the oven. Thats what Limewire is like. Only your bun in the oven is a virus in your computer.
