So it just came out. I saw it last night i can't say im totally disapointed because i had a feeling it wouldn't be great because the forth movie was a huge let down. What im pissed about is the decapitation it looked so fucking fake. It all most looked like a fucking sci fi movie. There really wasn't all that much gruesome violence. Well besides that guy getting cut in half, when the two survivors had to loose blood, and the end. The black chicks death was just lame. But overall it's about as good as the 4th one. Probably even a little better. Thoughts?

Haven't seen it yet nor not willing to pay to see it either. The 4th installment pissed me off so bad that my blood pressure was through the roof. I don't really wanna see the 5th one but I have to just to say that I've seen it.

5th was okay, pretty violent, too much storyline... needs more torture scenes... its gay they only had a total of like 10 mins total of tortures, with the other 1hr and 15mins of freaking talking and gay story.... but there will be a 6 so whatever

They can't ever top the first one which was fantastic, I've yet to watch Saw V on DVD but I'm expecting nothing too facsinating because the reviews aren't that good.

wordlife326 you're missing the whole point, it should be about a storyline, a good one. Too many torture scenes can ruin it. Hell, think about the first one, there were only 4 torture scenes... (Barbed wire room, reverse bear trap, Flammable substance and the bathroom with gordon and adam) The first movie was all about the psychology. They turned the genre around in it. The first one was a psychological thriller then the next 4 were horror. Why is that? They saw the people were looking more at the traps than anything and they thought that's what sells, they were kinda wrong. Psychology is what sells. So I've yet to see psychology in any saw movie but the 1st and the 3rd.

The movie lacks also because imo, Tobin Bell WAS SAW, and now, with having him just in flash backs, hurts the movie a lot.

Good point, Tobin Bell made Saw what it is. When you start changing the villain then you get into some really murky waters with movies. Makes them shitty. It's kinda like watching the movie Friday the 13th and Jason Voorhees is the killer in only one of the movies. whats the point.

I'm confused with the SAW series...I did like the fifth one, but it took place after 3 and before 4? The movies are dark and it is one of the reasons why I like the movies

Huh? They did the right thing. The Saw series was/is never going to be winning the Palme d'Or and the little bald statuette in this millennium.

What's the objective? Bums on cinema seats, which = enhanced revenue = glorious profit.

How to attract the bums on seats? Based on the response from the first Saw (like you have mentioned), emphasis on the torture scenes. It ensures not only decent box office sales but owing to Saw's cult status as a gory splatter horror flick, you can be sure of superb DVD/blu-ray sales as well.
