The Associated Press is reporting that World Wrestling Entertainment has signed Japanese wrestler Naofumi Yamamoto to a multi-year developmental contract. The story is getting a lot of press overseas.

The signing of Yamamoto is the latest effort by the company to continue building its business in Japan. Earlier this month, WWE held a festival in Tokyo to promote SummerSlam.

WWE Japan executive Ed Wells said, "We are thrilled about adding another Japanese talent to our developmental roster and look forward to his speedy and successful development."

Yamamoto will begin training as early as this month at WWE's developmental system, Florida Championship Wrestling. He is the second Japanese wrestler under contract (after Funaki).

So, what do you guys think? Will this guy be a smackdown!#1jobba wannabe? Or will WWE actually push the guy?

This.. Isn't that good of a signing. He's bland, and has little to no charisma. He came from the same class as Shinsuke Nakamura (Who had a great match with Angle earlier in the year) and Hirooki Goto. Goto and Nakamura have improved a LOT and have found success in Japan, Yamamoto... he hasn't improved at all.

With that said, I expect to debut as a ninja or something of the sort. If WWE is so desperate in reaching out to the Japanese audience, they should have signed Naomichi Marufuji instead.

And no, he's not a high-flyer. His offense is mostly strike based. In other words, lots and lots of kicking.

Why throw in the name of Funaki everywhere?

The guy is more talented than most of the people on the roster, they just need to expose him and make him do something useful. By the way, Yamamoto is the brother of former wrestler Kenzo Suzuki...

...this guy might have some talent, I know that they can flip very good so maybe he's a highflyer?

Who's "they"? ...Japanese people?

Shiiit, do you know how WRONG, and hmmmm, lemme see... RACIST that statement is?

Kenzo Sazuki was majorly crap, so this doesn't bode well!
