Ok like the title says : The best wrestler to never become a champion....

This thread I am not talking about people in the business right now for wwe because them still being on the wwe roster means there is still a chance for them to become a champion. By that I mean those who are no longer on the roster have been released / retired / and or dead.....

Who in your mind or more than one person has worked their asses off for years and has never become a champion (world champion not talking about ic title or something like that) and deserved to be one.

What are your list of people that desrved to be world champions but never got the chance they should have ?

I would have picked the following for my list of people -

  1. Tatanka
  2. Bam Bam Bigelow
  3. Big Viscera - let me say why, he has worked his but off with 10 different gimmicks over 15 + years and nothing to show for it besides embarresing himself in pyjamas for Vince... I think he should have gotten something for it i mean there were worse people that got shots at gold ?
  4. The obvious Owen Hart

(I will edit with more but I can't think of some right now, who would you say deserved a title run but never got it) ?

(also about owen hart I just want to say that I have had this thread before which you guys said didn't matter it was a house show so don't bring that up saying that I said he was before because I know lol.)

owen beat bret at wm 10 but it was a brother v brother match. remember, bret was in the match with yokozuna (RIP) and he won the belt

British Bulldog. He was great in the ring and I believe he could've held the title, even if it was only a transitional reign

Then come the obvious Owen Hart & Roddy Piper. I'd also like to add onto that list Ted DiBiase (Sr)

Sound like ya thread title should say "...WORLD champion".

Assuming that's the actual criteria:

Ted DiBiase Snr
Roddy Piper
Mr Perfect (AWA title aside)
Bam Bam Bigelow (good call - Big Bam Bam fan right here!)
Kane (Ya'll know what I'm sayin'.)
Razor Ramon (Even if I think Scott Hall sucks, the character was over like hell!)

Unfortunately, as great as they were in the ring, I don't think either Owen or Bulldog were destined to be world champs... Two of the greatest upper mid-carders ever maybe, but just fall short of the big one by virtue of gimmick's, mic skills etc.

In the case of Owen, IF it were to ever happen, they should have had Owen screw Bret for the belt inbetween WM10 & SSlam '94 and had Bret REGAIN the belt in the cage match. I reckon if they were doing monthly PPVs at that time we'd have defo seen that too, cos they could have had Anvil run in and help Owen win the title instead of after the cage match and Owen could have still screwed Bret @ SSeries against Backlund and the storyline all woulda made sense.

Owen did beat Bret for the belt in a house show - There's a link to the match on IWF somewhere - but it wasn't a recognised title reign for whatever reason (used to happen in the old days, even though at times they chose to recognise reigns such as Diesels against Backlund and Bret over Flair.).

Dibiase and Piper. Victims of an era when heels rarely held the top title.

Piper and Owen for sure..

Piper was one of the coolest wrestler ever...I got his DVD and its amazing..He should have been a world champion

Same for Owen he was one of my favorites back at his time of death and I just wish he could have held the world title also..

Airfixx mentioned someone who is possibly the most deserving

Mr. Perfect. He was awesome all round, he could've easily led the company imo
