Edge-heads missed the boat...

Maybe it's just me, but WWE have massively missed the boat, waiting til now to give Hawkins & Ryder the tag titles?

I understand Vicki & Edge have given them a fast-track to a title shot, but away from storylines, not a lot has been done (particularly in terms of straight-up tag matches) to show them as any kind of formidable force and now La Familia is crumbling (and may be over)...

They just seem like a couple of pussys to me that haven't REALLY got the nasty, dastardly characteristics to counteract said side of their character.

It's not even like they're gonna gain heat from having de-throned a face team.

Why put the belts on them now?

(If La Familia completely split then Chavo & Bam will just go back tot their biz on ECW, Edge obviously will be be chasing world titles, but H & R will just be left to be Vicki's bitches....)

IMO, it should have been M&M > Jesse & Festus (transitional) > R & H (reigning from around Backlash/J'day time). They could have then dropped them shortly before Edge lost to Punk, thus further contributing to the tensions within La Familia.... PLUS: In Finlay/Horny they have the perfect team de-throne them.

I don't know, because yeah sure that Chavo Guerrero and Bam Neely will side with Vickie because they are the closest to real family, however, Zack and Kurt could side with Edge.

I do think that giving them the belts now is largely stupid

Yeah honestly... Winning gold by tripping a guy off the top rope really pisses me off. Jesse's entertaining yes? He even had pretty good ring work in the match... But I'm still pissed he got pinned from that.

They got to ditch the Edge-Head shit soon.

its good that Miz/Morrison lost the tag titles, it could have been to Hawkins and Ryder or Jesse and Festus, they are actual tag teams. Finaly is 1 man and hornswoggle is half so you can't call a match with them in it 2 on 2. Miz/Morrison will be much better in singles even though the tag title run has helped them quite a bit (definatly helped miz). So Hawkins and Ryder winning the titles was good imo, although i wouldnt have minded jesse and festus winning either. Go H&R :D

The problem with the Edgeheads is that they were completely useless while Edge was in La Familia. Yes they helped Edge win matches, but they themselves never ended up looking strong. In order for them to be seen as valuable asset, they have to win matches on their own. I'm hoping that this tag title reign is going to start to put things going in that direction, though I agree that it should have begun long ago.

I'm a big believer in tag team wrestling; I believe it can be more entertaining than singles matches if done correctly. If the WWE would invest more time and money into the tag team division, they could really open up a completely unqiue style within the company. Should a big division be bulit on the foundation of the Edgeheads? Probably not. But they could still play a vital role in creating such a division.

@ BTMan & Lennie: Way to not answer a question! LOL

@Axis: Totally agree that they needed 'building', but my point is why wait til now?

Yeah, they certainly waited longer than I would have liked. They really could have started making a good tag team division again back when Londrick held the titles. They had the Bulldogs, Teacher's Pets (awful gimmick, decent talent), and the debuting Deuce and Domino. If they had held out until now, Mizorrison, Jesstus, and the Edgeheads all could have joined the fray. The bottom line is that the WWE just needs to patience to make this worthwhile. They currently have two tag teams (On Smackdown, at least), but they seem to have ADD with their tag team division. If they can build up those two teams and then slowly begin debuting new teams, good things could happen. It's far too logical to happen though.
