Wherever I go all I read is "omg Evan Bourne is awesome" or "I love Evan Bourne!" and imo, the dude is overrated. Now before you all go off and start flaming me just read my point of view on this. First of all, Evan Bourne sounds like a fucking geek. His promos are "hi, I'm Evan Bourne, and I'm ready to win!!". They are corny as hell, and it makes him look like a complete joke. The guy needs a character, he needs some personality...he can't be some random guy who comes out to the ring and does a bunch of flippy moves. Don't get me wrong, I love spot fests and I love high flyers too...but when they are random guys with no personality who are doing the moves, I usually don't really care.

Anyway, my point is..Evan Bourne really doesn't deserve all this praise that he's gotten from the IWC lately. I liked him as Matt Sydal in ROH, and he was good as a heel. But honestly, "Evan Bourne" that WWE has turned Sydal into is just a generic wrestler who does a bunch of fancy spots in the ring and a guy who can't cut promos. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I hate Bourne, I'm just saying that we should wait a few weeks before praising the guy like he is god because he did a shooting star press...

that is all

EDIT: oh wow, I didn't even see the "overrated" thread. I guess one of the mods can move this there...my bad

It's just like CM Punk when he first joined ECW. His first few matches were really nothing to write home about (and I'd argue he hasn't had a HUGE amount of memorable matches), but the IWC is familiar with him and we know what he's capable of.

In the same way, we now Sydal and we are very optimistic about what he can do as Bourne. He's like the seventh-grader that everybody wants to beat up the bully; that's it. He's an underdog babyface that has been around for about a month and is gaining steam before much else happens.

It's all about potential, and unlike with other rookies, we KNOW this guy can go far.

How can you be overrated when you've only been with a company for a month?

^ (to exponent) True, the guy has lots of potential. I do watch ROH regularly so I know that this guy can be a future main eventer. I'm talking about right now though, the present. Evan Bourne now isn't exactly a guy that was can call amazing just yet.

And SP, maybe I should have changed the title around. What I'm trying to say is people are overrating him at a very early stage in his WWE run.

I don't they're overrating him, I think its just that guy is different from what we normally see on WWE tv, so people are obviously going to stand up and take notice.

People are praising what he does in the ring, not his character. He needs first to develop it, and he hasn't had the chance to do so yet. However, it do feels that ECW will push him, so he will be getting more mic time soon.

he obviously has more of a personality than the other 2 guys they debuted this month. They already gave us some kind of gimmick, saying how he defies gravity. Maybe they should call him the "Air Devil" (you have to be an ROH fan to understand that)

I haven't seen much of him the WWE.

However, I will comment on Indy stars making the jump to the WWE. It takes them a while to get adjusted to the style.

Take CM Punk for example. There is no doubt he was amazing in ROH. However, when he first came into the WWE, his matches were not on par with his previous work. He was basically reformating his style so his matches were all clones of the previous match. As he became more comfortable with his moveset, his matches became much, much better.

Its like some dude going from one job to another. The general job description may be similar, but the business process may be unfamilar at his new company. At first, you stick to the routine, once you gain experience, you are able to find what works for you and improvise.

Its far too early to really even rate Bourne.

^good point good point... it is still too early to call him overrated, he hasnt had much tv time yet... give em a month or two, then call the shots on if he is or not, so far, I do believe he kinda is though imo
