Sheamus says he's frustrated by how his character has been handled following WWE Clash at the Castle.

Gunther vs. Sheamus at WWE's event in Wales last September was widely praised and received a rating of five stars from our own Dave Meltzer. However, Sheamus recently told the Daily Star that he feels the company didn't capitalize on the organic momentum he had coming out of the PLE.

“I’m not upset about that at all,” Sheamus said about losing to Gunther at Clash at the Castle. “I felt it was great, it was just the type of character Sheamus is, all fits and elbows.“
"What I was upset about and what really bothered me was the creative after that."
“I came out of that with so much organic momentum, and it was just wasted. It didn’t go anywhere."
“It was a dead end, just like with WrestleMania. Drew went away because he was injured, but I was ready to go and then just nothing."
“There were no avenues and nowhere to go and that’s frustrating."
“I did the War Games thing [after Clash at the Castle] but that was s*** - that’s how I felt, though others might have felt differently.”

Sheamus continued to say that the story of him chasing the one title in WWE he's never won, the Intercontinental belt, is still a fresh story.

"It's still a fresh story. Even with Gunther and Drew's match at SummerSlam, people are still mentioning me because it's still my story," Sheamus continued.
"I'd definitely like to retire with [the title], but that stuff is out of my control. I can just do what I can do."

Following Clash at the Castle, Sheamus would team with the rest of the Brawling Brutes and wrestled Imperium at Extreme Rules in October. That match was awarded four and a half stars from Meltzer. Sheamus would then earn the second five-star match of his career at WrestleMania earlier this year in a triple-threat match against Gunther and Drew McIntyre. The 45-year-old hasn't wrestled on a WWE PLE since, having been left off the cards for Backlash, Night of Champions, and Money in the Bank. He also is not scheduled for a match at this weekend's SummerSlam.

Does feel like he's being used to prop up Butch & Ridge more than anything. Pretty sure there was a little rally to get the US title on him after WrestleMania which would have been nice.

I mean not everyone can be champion. Just cause he wasn’t champ doesn’t mean he wasn’t being used well. He’s had a great run in the brawling brutes. At 45 years old and 15 years in the company there’s nothing wrong with being used to help younger guys.

Aren’t Jey and Roman finishing their story Saturday?

Didn’t the Sami Zayn/Bloodline story finish?

Isn’t a 7 year beef between Rollins and Balor about to finish?

He wanted to become a grand slam champion. He’s won every title except the IC title and it seems like he would’ve liked retiring as a grand slam champ.

I mean whatever. Gunther shouldn’t have had his run ended prematurely just so sheamus could say he’s grand slam champ.

He was talking about what happened AFTER the GUNTER match or more like what never happened after it. :fpalm
