TNAwrestling.com said:
TNAwrestling.com has learned that TNA superstar and former World Heavyweight Champion "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner underwent surgery in Birmingham, Alabama, on Tuesday afternoon to repair a fully-torn ACL in his knee.

Renowned physician Dr. James Andrews performed the procedure.

Steiner originally suffered the injury on May 11 during the Sacrifice Pay-Per-View event, where he faced Samoa Joe and Kaz in the main event for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

Steiner had an MRI done after the Pay-Per-View, but the test was incomplete due to the amount of swelling. The TNA superstar (who is known for his amazing tolerance for pain) opted to battle through it, competing at subsequent "iMPACT!" and TNA Live Events for over a month, including this past Sunday night in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Steiner only learned of the severity of the injury after seeing Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday in Birmingham. He was scheduled to undergo a scope of his knee, but the tear was discovered and repaired by Dr. Andrews.

Members of TNA management were in contact with Steiner on Tuesday night, and although he was obviously disappointed, they say he is already planning his comeback. In fact, Steiner will begin rehab this week with the trainer for the Atlanta Hawks.

According to Dr. Andrews, Steiner could be out anywhere from four to six months.

"He's mad right now because he was hitting on all cylinders in the ring," said one TNA staffer who spoke to Steiner. "But nothing will keep him away from an arena for long."

Steiner has battled back from injury before, many more severe than this. In fact, the superstar survived near-death in June 2007 after suffering a throat injury in a bout in Puerto Rico. Doctors performed emergency surgery to save him, resulting in a two-foot scar running from his back to his hip. "Big Poppa Pump" recovered and reunited with brother Rick Steiner to defeat Team 3D in a tables match at the October 2007 "Bound For Glory" Pay-Per-View event.

Everyone in TNA Wrestling wishes Scott a speedy and healthy recovery.

(We'd also like to offer our sympathy to the unlucky wrestler that is the first to fight him when he returns!)

TNAwrestling.com will have an update on Scott Steiner in the coming days.

Sucks to be Scott Steiner right now. He has been injured a lot lately. Hopes he gets well soon.

That's what happens when you're on the roids...Muscles just melt off the bone.

Scott Steiner right now: "I blame Flair and HHH"

With Steiner off TV, maybe Petey Williams can drop the ridiculous "little Petey Pump" gimmick and go back to being the Canadian Destroyer, one of the most dominant X-Division Champions of all-time.

He was at the house show Sunday talking about how much better Michigan is than Ohio (for the Ohio State vs. Michigan college football feud for those who don't know) and he said "there are some ugly bitches here in Ohio," and "Hey, there's no pets allowed....take your bitch outside." Good shit. But yeah, anyways, he wrestled at the house show so it must not have been too bad.
