Would Edge be a main eventer if he didnt tap lita?

Ok, before you respond, make sure you read this whole post. Because, this isnt saying Edge isnt worthy of his main event spot, and its not saying that he isnt a top guy. We all know he has some of the best mic skills, and is very good in the ring, and that he is a top guy. But if he didnt :tap: Lita, would he have ever got the recognition, and recieve the push he did?

Im actually thinking no... As I said, its sort of good it happened though, because it created a huge star in Edge, but without it, IMO, hed still be struggling in the mid card...
For years, Edge had still been in WWE, and had the same skills, but he wasnt able to get a push, or allowed to have the air time for him to get over like a main eventer. WWE simply didnt see all the talent he had, and as a result, he was stuck in the midcard...

However, then, the most dispicable act, helped him rise to the top... Once he had his affair with Lita, and Matt was fired, it eventually became known all throughout the wrestling world, and got all the fans extremely pissed at both Lita and Edge... The response was so huge, and he was so hated, that wwe realised it, and had to allow him to respond, and cut some promos to explain...
As he explained though, we finally saw all his talent. In his promos, he was finally allowed, along with Lita, to use all of his mic skills, and heel tactics, and it ended up getting him way over as a heel.
WWE saw this, and after his breif feud with Hardy, he was so over that, he got propelled to the main event immediately and hasnt looked back since!

So again, Im not saying that Edge isnt a main eventer... He is, and hes one of the best heels ever. But it seems that if he hadnt done what he did, wwe would have never noticed what he can do as a heel, and he wouldve never gotten that push!

What do you think, do you think Edge would be where he is today if he didnt have the affair to propel him to the main event? (Dont reply if you didnt read it all)

Yes he definitely would. Think back to late 2004. It was not known that Edge was banging Matt's girl, yet the trigger on the Edge push had just been prssed. He had turned into a despicable, World Title obsessed cry baby, and was beginning to feud with HBK, to elevate him right up.

Did anyone know that Edge was doing Lita at the time? No. So Edge still would be a main eventer. However, I have no doubt that he would not be anywhere near as awesome or over without doing Lita. The Rated R Superstar gimmick would have never existed, and it could be possible that he could be a face agin by now.

Yes I think Edge would be in the main event but I think it would have been a different and much more challenging and hard path to get there...Edge was in a big fued with HBK and he was getting alot of heat, he then finished the fued great and went into a 8 man tournament that had a couple of matches each RAW and then in the finals it was Kane Vs Edge and that is the night Vince found out about Edge and Lita's relationship thing, thenVince made Lita and Edge cheat to win and screw kane outta victory. Ever since then Edge was a huge heel and has been in great fueds and yeah...(lita did help but he would of got there by himself also)...

Yeh bkb pretty much hit this on the head.

He'd be a ME, or would've been an ME'er for some time. however, his rated r gimmick MAY NOT have come around so well, thus he'd be stuck with his usual gimmick or another one. Im not sure though, that this gimmick is why he is what ... 5 time WHC/WWE Champ. "The Ultimate Oppurtunist" thing plays a bigger part in that.

I disagree with everyone. He wouldn't be a main eventer. Maybe a sympathetic babyface or a comedy heel, with an ocational main event title match, but his impressive world title resume wouldn't be the same.

The scenario of the MITB cashing on Cena might not as well happen, his classic moments in 2006 none wouldn't have happen, as Lita wouldn't have been there and so no Rated R persona.Hell, his whole main event presence resides on the fact of the Rated R, Ultimate Opportunist persona, which without Lita woudn't have existed.

And as a face, on SD he would've been beneath Rey Rey, Batista and Taker, and on SD beneath Cena, HHH and HBK, so no title chances for him

And he also wouldn't be as big of a name as he is today without John Cena.

He would, and I agree with BKB on this one. At the time he won the Championship and setting up for it, the Main Event list was pretty thin on Raw with Jericho leaving and HHH in another feud. Angle wasn't going to get a title on Raw either.

On the SD side of things, I think he would've been a great contender there at the time, with Orton as the only other Main Event heel, and Mysterio only getting to the Main Event once Eddie Guerrero died.

How could you have someone that looks that badass as a comedy heel or a face in general? Edge is a natural heel, you can't really make him a face unless you team him up with the smallest wrestler on the roster or Hulk Hogan (which both happened)

He would be a main eventer.. Don't believe me? Look at the reactions he was getting when he was feuding with Kurt Angle (Including the match where he shaved Angle's hair). Edge was well on his way to becoming a top face, and then he got his neck injured.

The only thing that the Lita did thing was make him a top heel, instead of a top face. That's the way I see it, anyways.

For sure he would be. It just may not have happened exactly the way it did. And that feud, still to this day, is remembered so I think thats an "Oh hell yeah" good buddy.
