O.K., we all know how highly (& widely) regarded Rock V Austin, Savage V Steamboat, HBK's WM classics etc. are, but what are some of your favourite matches that you don't often hear 'championed', let alone discussed....

(Try and post a little about why you chose them cos hopefully you'll inspire others to check them out too....)

Hart Foundation Vs The Brainbusters (w/Bobby Heenan) @ Summerslam '89. - Opening match of the event and the first match I ever saw; luckily enough between 2 of the best tag teams ever (IMO)... Great back 'n forth action. Lots of offense from all 4 participants and a clean-ish win for the heels.

Shane McMahon Vs Kurt Angle @ KOTR '01 - For me the essential 'Shane match'. I'm not even that much of a fan of hardcore wrestling either, but both men played a blinder (and Kurt being Kurt there was a healthy dose of grappling along the way).

Jeff Hardy Vs Matt Hardy - Hardcore title match @ Smackdown '01(?) -And there's me saying I don't like hardcore! LOL ...But this match was about who really was "[too] Extreme". Creative use of the weapons and the "Awwwww, WWF, you motherfuckers!" 'swerve' ending with Crash stealing away with the belt at the end. Quality!

Brainbusters Vs The Rockers '89 - (Forgive me if less than 100% accurate on this cos this is where my pot-addled brain fails me big-time!) An awesome fued spanning 2 consecutive editions of SNME which culminated in a 2/3 falls. Brawl-tastic; high-flying spots, great wrestling sections. The 'Busters fell out and split in the aftermath of the loss; the rivalry ran so deep(*).

Randy Orton V Chris Bentoit @ Summerslam 2004 - Dispite the fact that many fans are gonna express the opinion that WWE shat on his title reign from a great height, I watched this match again recently and think it's superb! ...Reminiscent of the classic I.C. matches which is something you can't say for many world title changes over the years - "They both left it all in the ring" as the saying goes. Randy's winning RKO came out of absolutely nowhere and the aftermath in the ring with Orton's 'humbling'.... Pure class.

Sure I'll come up with some more later but lemme hear yours...?

(*Damn '89 was sick in terms of tagteams in the WWF! Twin Towers, Demolition, Hart Foundation, Rockers, Brainbusters, Rougeau Brothers, Powers Of Pain, the final days of The British Bulldogs & Strike Force... Ummm, The Bushwackers :choke: LOL )

Maybe not completely untalked about, but I'll throw out Bret Hart vs. Roddy Piper from WM 8. Most people recognize this a really good match, but I see it as great all around. Plus it had this raw nature not seen in a Hitman match again until Austin brought it out of him again in 97. One of my favorite WM matches ever.

I'll add some more later.

Cactus Jack vs Triple H Raw 1997

I thought it was an awesome hardcore match. You could see that Triple H was ready to be a star, and Cactus Jack was deserving to be a main eventer. Great match.

Cactus Jack vs Terry Funk Raw 1997

Once again, another great hardcore match by Foley. Funk proves he still has it.

CM Punk vs John Morrison ECW 2007

Even though everyone knew Punk was going to win the belt, they put on one hell of a show. I wish WWE didn't release the results because it had me on the edge of my seat even though I knew who was going to win.

Although it is talked about some what, the Shane McMahon/Kurt Angle Street Fight at King of the Ring 2001 is one hell of a match. I give props to Angle big time, this (I believe) was his third match that night and plus he got injured during the course of this match but still continued. Shane did what Shane does best and that's nearly kill himself to entertain the fans.

Seriously, if you never seen this match I highly recommend you to check it out.

Raven vs Chris Jericho: Opening match WCW Halloween Havoc 1998:
A fantastic way to start off the PPV portion of the event...The hot crowd really helped make this into a minor classic!

Raven vs Perry Saturn: WCW Fall Brawl War Games 1998:
The "If Raven loses the Flock must disband" stipulation gave this match a lil something the crowd could sink their teeth into...Also, the pop Saturn receives when he executes his match winning Death Valley Driver is incredible.

Shane McMahon vs Test: WWF Summerslam 1999:
For a Non-Worker, Shane's effort in this match is commendable. Even though these two used just about every shortcut possible, the match came off better than anyone could have hoped! Highly entertaining match...

Shawn Michaels vs Diesel: In Your House: Good Friends, Better Enemies 1996:
HBK demonstrated here why he was the finest worker in the business at this time...his 1st WWF Title reign was underway, and he was eager to impress. As for Nash, this has to be one of his finest performances...not that there's many! He played the big man role to perfection in this match...

Randy Savage vs Diamond Dallas Page: WCW Spring Stampede 1997:
The match that put DDP on the map...great match, great buildup..'nuff said.

I'll add more later...

Another that just came to mind...

Bret Hart Vs Bam Bam Bigelow (KOTR '93)...

Epic, epic, EPIC shit... 3rd match for both men and that angle was played to perfection leaving you with that 'how much longer can these guys go at it?' feeling... Left me dying to see these guys face off fresh... Never did. :(

R.I.P. Bam Bam.

Awesome thread idea. I'm tired, so I'll do some recent WM ones.

Randy Orton vs Undertaker (WM 21)
No one really talks about this match, but I found it awesome with some great near falls happening.

Rock n Sock Connection vs Evolution (WM 20)
This match had some great comedy, and was still pretty solid as well. Extremely underated.

Matt Hardy vs Rey Mysterio (WM 19)
This was a great, fast paced opener, with a surprising ending. Don't understand why it is so readily overlooked.

Low Ki vs Jerry Lynn vs AJ Styles

This match was crazy. They did so much stuff, it was ridiculous. Some stuff was the first and only time I've seen stuff been done.

Cactus Jack vs. Mikey Whipreck in Jack's last match in ECW. The fan reaction was insanely positive for Cactus consider how much he had shit on them for the past year.

Dude Love vs. Steve Austin from Over The Edge 98. Austin's first real feud as champion.

Amazing Red vs. Kid Kash
