WWE is hoping to feature younger wrestlers on Raw and SmackDown.

Currently, many of the company's top stars range in age from mid-30s to late 40s. Of those scheduled to wrestle at Night of Champions, only Rhea Ripley is under the age of 30. Five wrestlers over the age of 40 (AJ Styles, Brock Lesnar, Asuka, Natalya, and Trish Stratus) will also be on the show.

Our own Dave Meltzer wrote in Friday's Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE is focused on featuring more young talent on its main roster moving forward.

Meltzer wrote:

There is a big internal focus right now to get younger aged talent on Raw and Smackdown right now
Some of WWE's younger talent include Austin Theory (25), Rhea Ripley (26), Dominik Mysterio (26), Mansoor (27), Tegan Nox (28), Omos (29), Sonya Deville (29), and Bad Bunny (29). Solo Sikoa just turned 30 back in March as well.

Newly drafted wrestlers such as Cameron Grimes (29), Pretty Deadly (26 & 28), Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn (30 & 29), Zoey Stark (29), Indi Hartwell (26), and Odyssey Jones (29) are also younger than the majority of WWE's main roster.

That's great and all... but they have to actually put in the creative work to build all this talent up properly, because neither of those will be a Lesnar or Styles type of Main Eventer with actual staying power within the next 1-2 years, especially if their strategy continues to be either throwing shit at a wall to see if it sticks, or pushing someone like shit, without developing the character throughout that push.

Why is Bad Bunny listed?

That muffugga could be 50 and WWE would do anything to put him on their TV.

I can see why they want to do all of this since in a few years most of the guys on the roster will either retire or move on to different projects. Meanwhile, the younger talent would be picking up the knowledge and slack. They also have a bunch of younger talent in NXT that can go but I feel they need another year down there.

Story just looks like someone looked at the Jeddah card and did their mental math to make a non story out of nothing.

Like his math when it comes to ratings :lmao

That's great and all, but they really need to work on those young talents' gimmicks too. There are fewer and fewer memorable characters.

Early 30's for a guy is still young so long as they aren't just getting started, though there will be exceptions with that I suppose.

Definitely wanna be looking plenty younger than that for the women though since they tend to have a shorter shelf life, rightly or wrongly.

Fact that Cameron Grimes is 29, I’ve been watching him for like a decade and I’m still almost 5 years older than him is insane and depressing

I thought he was in his mid-thirties :babygroot

Also, given his age, they need to strap a rocket on L.A. Knight now.
