Disney confirmed late last year that the long-awaited sequel Hocus Pocus 2 is on the way for the Disney+ streaming service, and today we’ve learned that it’ll be arriving next year!

Hocus Pocus 2 will premiere on Disney+ in the Fall 2022!

The film is being billed as “the spooky sequel to the 1993 Halloween classic,” suggesting that it’s a continuation rather than a reboot or remake. But will the original movie’s main cast be back? Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy have all repeatedly expressed interest in recent years, and since today’s announcement comes directly from Midler, well, it’s probably safe to say that the original Sanderson Sisters are indeed back for this one!

I've seen the nostalgia goin' into overdrive within these last couple years for the original but I don't think this is necessary, may give it a chance though.

Yeah when these movies aren't hitting theaters I'm sure its just about getting people talking no matter how good the movie or tv show is.

They should drop it Halloween Night because why not! I loved it as a kid I made it a staple to see it every year at once like Halloweentown. I could only imagine how the Sanderson Sisters will act with the Technology and stuff we've got blessed with vs the time period of the first film.

The Sanderson Sisters are being resurrected once again this Halloween season in the highly anticipated Hocus Pocus 2, which will haunt Disney+ on September 30, 2022, it was announced today.

The film is being billed as “the spooky sequel to the 1993 Halloween classic,” with Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy all back as the beloved Sanderson Sisters.

“It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters who were executed for practicing witchcraft, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to figure out how to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before midnight on All Hallow’s Eve.”

Anne Fletcher (The Guilt Trip) is directing the movie, and the cast also includes Doug Jones as Billy Butcherson, a fan-favorite character from the original 1993 movie.

Joining them are Whitney Peak (“Gossip Girl,” “Molly’s Game”) as Becca, Lilia Buckingham (“Dirt,” “Crown Lake”) as Cassie, and Belissa Escobedo (“American Horror Stories,” “The Baker and the Beauty”) as Izzy, three young women in present-day Salem who incite the wrath of the three witches. Sam Richardson (Werewolves Within) will also star. “Arrested Development” favorite Tony Hale and “Ted Lasso” actress Hannah Waddingham have also both landed roles with Froy Gutierrez, Juju Brener, Taylor Paige Henderson, and Nina Kitchen.

The Kenny Ortega-directed 1993 movie starred Omri Katz as a curious youngster who moves to Salem, Massachusetts, where he struggles to fit in before awakening a trio of diabolical witches (played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy) that were executed in the 17th century. The film also starred Thora Birch, who will not return for the sequel, unfortunately.

Hopefully we get a Trailer in maybe June or July because I wanna see how the Sanderson Sisters deal with the World of today. A little bummed they couldn't of had former Cast Members like Katz or Birch with Children and them making the mistake lighting the Candle or even one of them like Birch helping them but hey I'm going to check this out no matter what.

Maybe it's one of those movies a lot of people saw when they were younger and still enjoy out of nostalgia. It's on Disney+, maybe I'll give it a watch this summer.

Yeah 100% this, for that era of Disney Channel movies it was pretty good tho. I always preferred Halloweentown myself tho

This was a major motion picture release and not a Disney channel movie. And the people that love it are mostly women.

Oh it was only ever saw it replayed on Disney Channel and didn't think it was any different which probably says a lot
