I thought he said last time, it would be his last deal, but man probably enjoying himself to much and got offended a shit ton of money. So I can’t blame him.

That's what I'm thinking, maybe he had like a year left so they just jumped on renewing him before a true negotiation period started

Confirmation of AJ Styles re-signing with WWE

Fightful has gained confirmation of a major WWE re-signing.

Last month on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned that he'd heard AJ Styles re-signed with WWE. Fightful Select was able to confirm with numerous WWE sources this week that deal was made, and some of the details that went into it.

We weren't given a time length, besides the fact that it was a multi-year deal. His original contract was set to expire in the Spring/Summer, and would have had him hit free agency for the first time since leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling. WWE expected Styles to have plenty of suitors, and we're told that as in the case with some other big names in the company, wanted to get Styles' deal extended before he could even hit free agency to talk to anyone else. Styles is said to be very happy in the company, and has mentioned numerous times that he'd like to work for WWE after his wrestling career.

Those that we spoke to said the deal was a big one, with Styles landing well over $3 million a year when all was said and done. Those that confirmed the deal to us said that "he deserved every penny," and "would easily make that back for the company." We're also told that he has some additional bus travel accommodations paid for.

When Fightful asked how much time he has left in wrestling, he said that if something went down that caused him to retire, he'd be very satisfied with what he's accomplished.

Another upside to another major wrestling company being out there that can pay wrestlers good. People like AJ, Kevin, Sami, etc can get paid handsomely to stay. If AEW wasn’t around, they might not get as high as offers as they are, because they know that they probably wouldn’t go to Impact. AJ MAYBE could as he might go back to Japan, but I feel he would wanna stay here in America.(so he could I guess work the US NJPW)

As popular as NJPW is in Japan I doubt they could even come close to matching WWE or AEW tbh, I haven't the faintest idea of their contacts tho so that's pure speculation

The only thing I know for sure is the NJPW was def paying more than TNA when AJ left them instead of taking a pay cut :slip:

Pre-COVID NIPW had a higher budget for sure but a lot of top stars have taken pay cuts this year as well, they been struggling business-wise. And without AEW in America I mean ROH would probably be doing better like it was prior but as long as Sinclair owns them they have a ceiling they'll never pass. I don't know anything about AEW contracts either admittedly but I would bet no other company has anyone getting paid in the millions besides them and WWE
