Backyard Wrestling

Foreword: If there's a topic already about this, then sorry for making a new one.


So I'm sure there's alot of mixed emotions about backyard wrestling, and I'm sure most of us have tried it at one point or another
so what's your opinion on it?
Are you for it, or against it and why?

im against it, i do have respect for those that do it for putting their bodies and health on the line but its nothing but ignorant teens bashing each others brains in with weapons. it gives prowrestling a bad name because some people feel that BYW is actual wrestling, half the time they dont even fight in a ring.if it was up to me i'd put a stop to it but not all BYW is garbage wrestling there are some that actually wrestle and those are the ones i enjoy the most. anyways thats my 2 cents.

Who cares if people suck at it and make youtube bids. I think its funny to watch people fuck up on shit and stuff. Who cares if they suck, its not like its thier profession and do it every day. Its just to have fun. Thats my opinion

Why is everyone hating on backyard wrestling it shouldn't even be called backyard wrestling because its not wrestling its just kids having fun trying to wrestle. ITS JUST FOR FUN get that shit into your heads.

Meh, I say let them have fun. I'm not doing it, because I actually plan on doing some wrestling locally when I get older, and don't want to develop any bad habits. But yeah, entertainment wise, it isn't very good most of the time.

I did see a backyard fed in New Zealand however, where the kids actually knew what they were doing. Like, they actually built them selves a sturdy, decent looking ring in their backyard, and could do some decent lucha type stuff. I don't know if they've had any training, but they couldn't have been older than 17 or 18. Its on youtube if anyone wants to check it out, and it'll clearly stand out from the rest of backyard wrestling vids...

In my opinion I think backyard wrestling is stupid (in most cases atleast). Not the fact that kids are out there having fun, but more looking at the aspect of these kids doing things they aren't properly trained to do. Just because you watch alot of wrestling, or even "training videos", doesn't mean that you really know all the techniques needed to be able to safely perform a move. I say "stupid" just as I'd say it's stupid for someone to watch a bunch of daredevil (not matt murdock) tapes then go out and try to jump a car on your bmx. With that said, I'm sure there are byw feds out there involving people with minimal training, and/or are actually well done (in terms of safety), though I'm sure these are few and far between.

I've never tried it and I don't plan on trying it. I'd rather not hurt myself for no apparent reason. I don't know about you guys but I don't find getting my ass beat fun. Backyard Wrestling is very dangerous and could cause serious injures, but if its your thing fine.

I "technically" do backyard wrestling because my ring is in my backyard. But we dont just use weapons and beat the shit out of people. We actually never use weapons, and we wrestle entertaining matches. I dont consider what we do backyard wrestling for 2 reasons.

1. We have a ring.

2. We dont senselessly beat each other up and call it "wrestling."

I do a different style of backyard wrestling ok now picture this.....
Wide open grass...... 14 year olds to 20 year olds......... Mat wrestling... but something else... to win he must give up.... It's real. My record is 2-2-0 (Win-Lost-tie)Think thats bad my step brother's record is 1-2-1.

You see i believe that wrestling isn't beat the shit out of people with weapons. What i do is REAL WRESTLING.

I do not call it backyard wrestling it's just kids having fun.

umm actaully real wrestling is either freestyle, or coliegte wrestling (which i do) so dont compare that shit to what real wrestling actually is.

backyard wrestling is Blue, there isnt any way to defend it, people are giong to get hurt, and quite frankley its useless because you will definlty look like a fucking idiot to other people.....

No you don't know what i'm talking about basicly what i did (Haven't did it in a while) was REAL Mat Wrestling except no mats and to win you must make him give up.

I've seen a whloe fuck load of vidoes on backyard wrestling. OMG it sucked so bad i dare not watch another video. I Seen one were this guy threw his opponent into a brick wall (No faking that) they used a trampoline and/or a messed up ring. *Sigh* I envy thoughs who had a wrestling ring in their backyard.

I actually tried it, but didn't film it, me and my brother just had fun beating the hell put of each other with trash cans and "barb wired baseball bats" made from aluminum foil. I even power bombed my brother through a trash can lol. But it as a sort of "promotion" to me is kinda rediculous, but VERY funny IMO. Kids (like myself), don't try this at home!
