The Smackdown Curse

There is an article on the official WWE website that actually mentions the Smackdown Curse.

The article actually lists Batista, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, King Booker, the Undertaker, and Edge as wrestlers who were injured after winning the World Heavyweight Championship.

The article also takes time to compliment John Cena as the WWE Heavyweight Champion. It also compares the Smackdown Curse to the Madden Curse, where pro football players get injured after gracing the cover of the Madden video games.

The Smackdown Cure

With Smackdown losing top level talent left and right, the cure is to inject some star power back into the brand.

While Raw has a pretty woeful midcard scene right now, their main event scene is bursting at the seams. It's quite crowded with top level talent.

It's time to send of that talent to Smackdown, which would be beneficial for a lot of people in the company.

Ken Kennedy

Ken Kennedy was on his way to becoming the World Heavyweight Championship until a doctor misdiagnosed his condition and caused the writers to change up their plans.

The writers had Edge capitalize on an injury situation and capturing the title. Time to do the same for Ken Kennedy.


Ken Kennedy can come back to Smackdown and become an instant main eventer. He could easily be inserted into the title scene. The writers had already come up with a plan for him as champion. Put that to use now.

It's not like Ken Kennedy is doing anything big on Raw. He's being used pretty randomly. One week, he's in the main event scene, working against the WWE Heavyweight Champion. The next week, he's put into a feud with Super Crazy.

Raw already is set with top level heels. King Booker is one of the best in the business. Randy Orton can be as well if he behaves himself. The third heel in the promotion can be William Regal, whose superb mic skills can carry him pretty far.

That allows Raw to be able to afford to lose Ken Kennedy back to Smackdown.

Umaga
Umaga went from being in the top feud in the company (teaming with Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon against Bobby Lashley) to being lost in the shuffle.

Plus, the infusion of top level heels in King Booker, Ken Kennedy, and perhaps William Regal, Umaga has been dropped down the ladder a bit.

The writers started overlooking him. Though he did win the WWE Intercontinental Championship, he didn't have any feuds to build on. His brief encounter with Santino Marella did more harm than good for both wrestlers.

Moving Umaga to Smackdown would immediately usher him into the main event scene again. With Edge out with an injury for four months, Umaga would be the top heel on Smackdown along with the Great Khali.

Of course, there are also rumors that Umaga may be in trouble with management. Earlier this week, management sent a wrestler home for conduct detrimental to the company. All signs are pointing to Umaga as the wrestler that was sent home.

That could have a major impact on what the writers choose to do with him.

Conclusion

We understand that the writers want to stack up on talent on Raw because the USA Network has been pressuring Vince McMahon for better ratings, but now is not a good time to neglect Smackdown.

Definately not Umaga. They already got three monster heels in Khali, Kane and Mark Henry, and we've seen more than enough of them already. Kennedy is a good idea, but I'd rather he go to SD as a face, as right now, Batista is the top face in SD, and yes that's not good.

No roster trades should be made. That would make the Draft look weak and meaningless. Rey is returning in a couple weeks so that will be like a new addition to the roster. If WWE were going down the road of trading someone from another Brand, then that person should be 'fired' from Raw and then 'hired' by SD!. Or something along those lines. Kennedy would be the ideal trade, but with _____ being the new Champ, I doubt a heel would move over to the brand.

I dont know...When I see Umaga I cant picture him on Smackdown!I only see him on Raw and maybe ECW.Anyways as Phantom said,they already have alot of heels......Ken Kennedy could do that but it would basically make fun of the draft....I dont like the whole fired idea unless it was between SuperCrazy and Kennedy.....Kennedy could lose by accident,be fired,go to SD but say he will only sign if he gets an immediate title shot,get one and then win....
However the most sensible way would be to have established GM's on every show and simply make a trade.....They used to do that...Anyways thanks for the news/article....

Kennedy should never of moved in the first place, he can't get a WWE tite shot until, King Booker, Bobby Lashley and Triple H all have one. Him moving to SD! would look stupid now so WWE just shot themselves in the foot.

In desparate times like these you see how ECW is now helping matters by having the small superstars with all the potential, if ECW was to disband, CM Punk, Eligah Burke, Cor Von and Nitro could help Raw and SD!..and so could the rest of the ECW stars.

I actually think the Heavyweight title curse will be fun to follow (for the fans only) because if it's true ----- will be injured! WOOP!

They need to just push Jamie Noble/James Gibson, i'm maybe just a Noble mark, but him as US Champ doesn't sound bad to me

What if Triple H returned to Smackdown? It's obviously a one in a million shot, but that would be pretty shocking and definately shake things up. Alternatively, I think they will have some of the big names switch up from RAW/Smackdown each week for appearance ratings. This is mainly why they dropped solo-brand PPV's. Triple H appearing on Smackdown would be a nice change of pace. Maybe a little backstage run-in with old-time pals, Flair and Batista. Either way, I think Smackdown will be alright with the return of Mysterio.

Kennedy and Umaga on smackdown both going for the World title is a great move IMO. i hope this happens

Kennedy on Smackdown would benefit both him and smackdown. Kennedy needs a decent push (hopefully to the world title) and smackdown need someone to push so it's the perfect move. I thought Kennedy on raw would be great but it didn't live up to my expectations and i'd put him back on SD!.

As for Umaga i'd keep him on raw.

Listen, Rey returning and now with these three big stars Khali, Kane, and Batista, the company can't be doing too bad. SD has some good Stars already that they can't be arsed pushing I think. Even Deuce and Domino don't look like they are even getting pushed.
