UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva, the winner of 14 straight bouts inside the Octagon, has "around" four fights left in his career before calling it quits.

That's according to the Brazilian's manager, Ed Soares, who recently told SporTV (via Bloody Elbow) that fans may only get four more chances to see "The Spider" do his thing.

And why waste them on rematches with Chael Sonnen and Vitor Belfort, two fighter he already finished?

"Let'ssee what the big boss is going to do. My opinion is that he (Sonnen) had hischance and tapped, he should go back to the end of the line. The same thing istrue with Vitor Belfort. They're great fighters, but they had their chance.Sonnen would make a big fight, as would Dan Henderson and Georges St-Pierre,but we should recognize that Anderson only has around 4 fights left in hiscareer."

The mixed martial arts community has been clamoring for "Silva vs. Sonnen II" following Sonnen's successful return to action at UFC 136, a second round submission win over the hard-hitting Brian Stann back on Oct. 8, 2011.


It helps that Sonnen went into his pro wrestling schtick and ran a verbal train on the cageside champion after the fight, but outside of the trash talk, there is a legitimate argument for booking part deux.

That's because the mouthy ex-Realtor beat the stuffing out of Silva for four and a half rounds back at UFC 117 and to date, has been the only middleweight to pose any kind of threat to the 185-pound kingpin.

True, he was finished before he could seal the deal, but his performance was light years beyond what any other challenger was able to accomplish.

Dan Henderson? He likely won the first round against Silva at UFC 82, but was quickly finished off in the second stanza.

So, if "The Spider" has only four bouts left, who should he use them to fight? If he's not moving up or down in weight for a potential "superfight," then few challenges outside of Sonnen remain

If that's true it'll be sad to see a legend go. He doesn't have to prove himself to anyone in my opinion and he will probably go down as one if not the greatest middleweight of all time.

Whether he's retiring or not he has to face Chael, as like the report said he got the shit kicked out of him for four and a half rounds. Vitor got killed early so I don't see how he needs a rematch tbh, but he should face Sonnen and if beats him, have 2 more title fights where providing that he wins, he can give up the belt and do a superfight with GSP.

The Sonnen fight needs to happen before he calls it quits, and really it prob needs to be his next fight. The GSP fight will never happen, GSP isn't going to move up and even if it does it's going to take a year at least for him to put on the weight the way he would want. Would love to see him move up to 205 to take on Bones, but that's a long shot to. Which makes him calling it quits even more likely, he's done and beaten everyone at 185 and the only challenges left our with a move up in weight.
