News Billy Corgan Joins TNA

Smashing Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan is now a member of the TNA creative team. The news was first broken by Variety. In the video above, Corgan speaks with Josh Mathews about joining the promotion.

Corgan's new title is "Senior Producer of Creative and Talent development." He was having meetings at TNA headquarters in Nashville a few weeks back.

"There is a tremendous opportunity to go into really fresh, new directions," Corgan toldVariety. "There are ways to explore those themes in ways that are productive, create new stars and show that value-based 'babyfaces', no matter what their background, no matter where they come from, can draw new audiences and inspire people in new ways."

Actually was just reading about it because it made Yahoo's tending and I see that now he formed a federation in like 2011 and ran it, Resistance Pro.. hmm interesting, it may not hurt TNA then but yeah I don't think the impact will be much regardless.

Remember when Russo left, I said the new head writer needed to be the "next Russo", to find the next person from OUTSIDE of the wrestling bubble who can inject this product with fresh ideas.
And while the "next Russo" wound up being Mark Burnett with LUG, feeling pretty damn optimistic for whatever Corgan can bring to the table.
TNA has absolutely nothing to lose at this point. Lets see where this goes.
