UFC President Dana White on Thursday declared Chris Weidman the Middleweight division's No. 1 contender.

Michael Bisping feels otherwise.

"Weidman has got an undefeated streak going, and Dana is the president of the company, so far be it from me to disagree and tell him he's not the No. 1 contender," said Bisping. "It's his company, but I don't think so. Weidman has a good streak going, and he's got a lot of hype around him at the moment, but I never rated Mark Munoz in the first place."

"He knocked out a fat Mark Munoz, who was out of shape and coming back off a long layoff because of injury. Not that impressive if you ask me. In fact, before that it was Demian Maia – and again, it wasn't impressive. Demian Maia looked terrible in that fight, but so did Chris Weidman. 'Oh, he cut this amount of weight.' Well that's his f------ problem. That's not an excuse, is it? You looked s---, plain and simple.

"He elbowed a fat Mark Munoz and now he's the great white hype? Just because he elbowed an out-of-shape fat man? Yeah, he's got a streak, and that all counts – undefeated, et cetera – so I suppose you can see the logic, but I disagree."

"You could look at the skills and say I could box his f------ head off, as we. I've certainly got better wrestling than he's got boxing.

"Just because he landed one elbow on an amateur? I've trained with professional boxers, and trust me, I more than hold my own. I could have a career in professional boxing, no problem, professional kickboxing – f--- it, if I wanted to be a professional wrestler, I could be a wrestler, as well."

"He may just come up short against Boetsch (at UFC 155). I think Boetsch might be a tough matchup for him. Boetsch is a big, strong boy. He's not the most technical of guys, but he's a big, tough, durable guy. He's not to be written off.

"When I was to fight at him, I was looking at that as a dangerous fight. It certainly wasn't a given. He's durable. That's not a given fight for Weidman."

He's got a point about Mark Munoz. I wouldn't say that Weidman is the number on contender either, especially seeing as he's got to fight Tim Botesch at UFC 155 and could end up losing that fight.

I am amazed that Bisping still isn't considered the number one contender, maybe after he beats Stann people will think that he deserves the next title shot. He has been more impressive and his only recent loss was a dodgy judges decision against Sonnen. At least you know that Bisping wont let himself be forgotten about, always so vocal about everything.

Well he is right. I cant bring myself to jump on the Weidman hype train after he KO'd an overrated Munoz. He's undefeated yes but he's only had 9 fights. Being 9-0 is nothing, with that record in boxing or kickboxing you wouldn't even get to open a PPV let alone headline one. He still has a lot to prove to be the number one contender and Bisping probably deserves it more. Hold a Bisping-Silva fight in England, it'd be huge.

I'd say let Bisping shut up Weidman. It'd be a lot better that way.

Weidman v Bisping would be better than Weidman-Boetsch and Bisping-Stann. The only thing working against Bisping though is if he gets Silva he's a very good opponent for Silva to showcase his skills on. Bisping got good standup but he's not on Andersons level.

Bisping had a lot of chances to become a number one contender and he failed.

Weidmann is a TKO R1 punchbag for Anderson.

I don't get the reasoning here, because if Boestch was to beat him would he then be #1 contender? Because he was hardly impressive himself in his last fight.

Bisping might of 'lost' to Sonnen but for once he has a right to feel aggrieved, he's got the best run @ the weight, maybe only Belcher or Belfort could argue different.

Who is to say that Bisping even has a chance here?

Whenever the guy gets top tier talent he folds. He even got dropped by Wandy, what would Anderson do to him? Beating Akiyama and Mayhem doesn't make you a title contender.

He very clearly beat Sonnen though.

Only reason nobody cared to kick up a fuss was b/c Sonnen/Silva II soynded much better than Bisping/Silva.

Its the same with Weidman though, beating Munoz and Maia doesn't really mean much. Munoz was ranked high yes but he didn't deserve that ranking and the Maia fight was just a terrible case of two gassed guys fumbling around the cage. But yes with Bisping he's lost to every top tier/big name fighter he's ever faced but he has a decent run, has only been soundly beaten once and can sell a PPV.

The only person who should face Anderson is Belcher imo.

Long deserving and only has rematches left for him, sounds familiar to anyone in that division?

Shouldn't the title shot be given to the guy that is next in line that deserves the shot. I agree that Bisping fails everytime he faces a big name but he has been on a great run as of late, other than the controversial loss to Sonnen. If he does face Silva he will lose but so does everyone else.

With Silva apparently looking to fight GSP after the Bonnar fight it would mean that Bisping would need to fight again so why not put him against the winner of Boetsch/Weidman and then the winner of that can get the title shot.

Bisping vs Belcher would be a legit #1 contender fight if Belcher gets through Okami as expected.

Weidmann needs more wins, Munoz, Sakara and Maia is hardly murderers row. Boestch would be a decent scalp but after that horrible Lombard fight it wouldn't mean as much now.

Hopefully Rashad decides to cut down because some of these guys are terrible. I dread for Weidman if he got that fight with Anderson, really, I just see him either getting chopped down in 1, or doing a Kalib Starnes and sprinting away for 25 mins.
