A RELIGIOUS foundation has increased a reward for killing British author Salman Rushdie to $US3.3 million ($A3.14 million) from $US2.8 million in response to alleged insults to the Prophet Mohammed.
Sunday's report in the hardline Jomhoori Eslami daily said the 15 Khordad Foundation will pay the prize to whoever acts on the 1989 death fatwa issued by Iran's late leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini against the author of the novel The Satanic Verses, calling his book blasphemous.

The reward started at $US1 million and is occasionally increased.

Pretty crazy that there is a so called religious group that is offering $3 million for his head. The fatwa from Khomeini will forever remain in place because it can only be removed by the person that initiated the fatwa and since he is dead he can't take it back. I am surprised that none of the crazy fanatics haven't tried to claim this reward.
