Brandon Vera vs. Thiago Silva rematch scrapped due to "The Truth" suffering an injury, according to the UFC. The bout was scheduled to take place at UFC on FX 3 on May 15 in Fairfax, Virginia. A replacement for Vera is expected to be announced in the coming days. In the meantime, who do you Maniacs think that replacement should be?

I read a few rumored names to replace Vera, Stephan Bonnar being the most brought up name, would be awesome if shogun stepped up for the fight but don't think he'd do it with the show not being on PPV and what not.

Silva shouldn't waste his time on guys like Vera anyways.

Yeah, even though he lost the last fight Shogun is way too good to be on FX, his value is probably at its highest since he left PRIDE.

Bonnar/Silva is a good call, seems like a sure bet for a bloody war.

I guess Vera also never consulted his team, or any of his doctors before accepting the fight then afterwards they said he wasn't going to be able to take the fight.

Shogun shouldn't even step foot on FX.

Silva Bonnar would blow chunks. Thiago would wreck him and make it look nasty. The rematch only needed to happen cause of the "cheating" from the last fight. Thiago deserves a better challenger than Bonnar.

Vera posted this on Twitter explaining why he couldn't take the fight.

“Hey everybody, it’s Brandon “The Truth” Vera here. I wanted to clear up some stuff, and apologize. I’ve been bugging my manager, I’ve been bugging Joe Silva and the UFC, so as soon as Thiago Silva’s suspension was over and he was available, I would like to be the first one to fight him and get back in there with him. Kind of a welcome back thing. Finally the fight came, Joe said the fight can happen May 15th. My manager told me the fight is happening May 15th…and without thinking, without talking to my coaches, without talking to my doctors, I verbally said ‘Yes, I’m down for the fight, let’s do this, let’s get it done. I’m in.’ Super excited, hung up the phone, promptly went on a run, and got super excited.
The next morning I went to my doctors after training and told my doctors that I was planning on fighting May 15th, and…everybody looked at me like I was crazy. They said there’s no way I’ll be ready by then, and I need to focus on getting better. So I sat down and was thinking ‘Yeah, maybe those guys are right.’ So I didn’t check with my doctors, I didn’t check with my coaches. I apologize to both you guys. I apologize to Joe Silva and my manager Matt Stansell. I apologize to my fans. I still wanna fight you bad Thiago, Thiago, however you say your name juice monkey. I still wanna fight you bad. So whenever you’re ready, whenever I’m healthy enough, I’m your huckleberry.”

Vera will get dominated again whenever he fights him again. The only question is how badly will Vera's nose look after the next whooping.

I don't see why people think Thiago is such a good fighter, other than possessing some heavy fists, he doesn't do much after that gets nullified.

Not saying he is that good... just Vera couldn't do anything at all against him in the last fight. And also Thiago has that brawler type style so his fights aren't boring which is good entertainment.

Supposedly Igor Pokrajac is Thiago's new opponent hasn't been confirmed by the UFC but I've read it on numerous MMA sites.
