How did these two get here?
After a solid run, Quinton Jackson really emerged at Pride's 2003 middleweight tournament where he forced Chuck Liddell's corner to end the bout in the semifinals before an entertaining loss to Wanderlei Silva in the finals. Jackson rebounded with two wins, including the infamous power bomb over Ricardo Arona, earning himself a rematch with Silva on Halloween, 2004. Jackson put in a spirited performance, but ultimately loss the fight to Silva. Flash forward to 2007 when Jackson debuts in the UFC. He begins the end of Chuck Liddell at UFC 71 while capturing the UFC light heavyweight title. Jackson defends the belt against Dan Henderson before dropping it to Forrest Griffin in a classic bout following a stint as coaches on the Ultimate Fighter. After a wild episode in his truck, Jackson finally avenges his losses to Wanderlei Silva when he knocked out his adversary in the first round at UFC 92. Jackson put off a fight with Rashad Evans in order to do promo work for the A-Team movie. When he returned he dropped a unanimous decision to Evans at UFC 114. Jackson returned at UFC 123 with a controversial decision victory over Lyoto Machida.
Matt Hamill entered the UFC through the third season of the Ultimate Fighter. After three victories, he dropped a decision to Michael Bisping, which is still the posterchild for controversial decisions in the UFC. After rebounding over Tim Boetsch, Hamill suffered his first non-blemished loss of his career when Rich Franklin put him down with a body kick at UFC 88. Hamill is currently on a five-fight winning streak, including a laughable DQ "victory" over Jon Jones at the TUF 10 Finale.
Why should you watch?
Well, you bought the pay-per-view, and this is the last live bout of the evening. And maybe "Rampage" will say something funny at the end.
