It was recently announced that the Strikeforce heavyweight division would soon be closing up shop and, though no official statement has been given in regards to exactly what the fate of each individual Strikeforce heavyweight will be, most assume that at least the cream of the crop will be making their way over to the UFC.

During a recent appearance on ESPN1100/98.9 FM's MMA Insiders (props to Yahoo! Sports), former UFC heavyweight champ and current contender Frank Mir said that he hopes that's how things will play out, so that all of the world's best will finally all be competing under the same roof.

"I think it's only a benefit to move them over to us," Mir said. "I guess I have a bad taste in my mouth because of what happened when I first started my career. I had to always hear about 'Oh, you guys are good, but the PRIDE guys would kick your butt.' And then that frustration of not being able to get to them."

Mir believes that putting the world's best heavyweights on the same roster will provide the means to truly determine who is the single greatest competitor in the division.

"I don't want to hear that [who's the best discussion anymore]. I want to know that anybody in the division … 'you think that you can beat me? Hey Joe Silva, is he clear? Okay cool, let's fight,'" he said.
