Maximum Fighting Championship has announced that Zak Cummings will replaced Emanuel Newton and challenge light heavyweight champion Ryan Jimmo at MFC 29. The event, which will air live on HDNet, takes place on April 8 at Caesars Windsor in Windsor, Ontario.

According to the promotion, Newton suffered an undisclosed injury and training.

After starting his professional MMA career in 2007, Cummings built an undefeated 10-0 record before falling to Tim Kennedy by submission in his Strikeforce debut. He holds victories over Strikeforce veteran Rudy Bears and UFC veteran Terry Martin.

In his last fight, Jimmo defeated Dwayne Lewis to claim the MFC title. The victory also extended the Karate fighter’s 14 fight winning streak. Jimmo has not lost since dropping his professional debut in 2007.

MFC 29 will also feature a welterweight title fight. Champion Douglas Lima will defend his title against Terry Martin.
