The show closed out with a huge five way match to determine a number one contender to the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble ppv. It featured AJ Styles, Andrade, Kofi Kingston, Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura. In the end Andrade brawled with Styles at ringside and Kingston dived out of the ring and laid them both out while back in the ring Nakamura laid Orton out with the Kinshasa for the pin.

The match was well under way and it looked like Rollins would get the win after laying Ambrose out with a Buckle Bomb. He was setting up for the Curb Stomp when WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar came through the crowd and entered the ring and dragged Ambrose up then laid both men out with a Double Clothesline and then back to back F5’s.

Due to the actions of the current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar on Monday Night RAW. It was revealed by RAW GM Kurt Angle that Lesnar would now defend the title against both Seth Rollins and WWE IC Champion Dean Ambrose in a triple threat match at the event. Finally after checking with Ambrose, Angle has also announced that the “Lunatic” will be putting his title on the line as well.​

Shinsuke Nakamura came out to the ring and told WWE Champion Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan to get their asses to the ring so that he could kick them. The duo came out onto the stage and Bryan said he would see him at the Rumble but he could face Rowan right here right now.

Nakamura fought out of an attempted Chokeslam and landed on his feet in front of the big man. From here Nakamura wasted little time in delivering a stiff knee strike to the gut of Rowan and followed it up with a Kinshasa.

Bryan attempted to attack Nakamura but instead the latter got the better of the former.

Hardy came out on top and then charged at one of the corners and attempted a Whisper in the Wind only for Joe to move out of the way. Joe dragged him up and locked in the Coquina Clutch and Hardy had to submit.

WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey came out to the ring and talked trash about both her so-called Rumble opponents Sasha Banks and Bayley. Which brought out both women who agreed to team up to kick Rousey’s ass to shut her up right here right now. However, Rousey said that she had a friend who would back her up and put the two pretenders down for the count.

The opening match saw the now former NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler debut on the main roster. She had lost the above mentioned title at NXT TakeOver Phoenix to Bianca Belair. It was quite clear that Baszler was pissed off about the loss and had something to prove. Despite a good showing from the duo of Banks & Bayley it would see Baszler submit Bayley after trapping her in the Kirifuda Clutch.

However Finn Balor came out and brawled with Ambrose and beat him down and then checked on Heyman and the latter offered his hand and Balor accepted it. Back in the ring Rollins got laid out with an F5 from Lesnar. ​

It came about after Flair stated that she wasn’t pinned in the number one contender(s) match on the previous week's edition of SD. The ending came about after Lynch fought out of the Figure Eight and then righted herself and dragged Flair up and hit the Bexploder Suplex for the pin.

Flair attempted to attack Lynch which brought out WWE SD Women’s Champion Asuka who cleared Flair out of the ring and stared down with Lynch.

An enraged Jinder Mahal shouted about the loss last week and said he would make the masked morons but first he turned to the Singh brothers and said they were being replaced. Then suddenly both Sunil and Samir were attacked by the Authors of Pain and Mahal nodded and the trio left together.

Rollins exited the ring and got a microphone and then returned to the ring and stated that since Lesnar wasn’t here he was going to use Balor to send a message to the “Beast Incarnate’. He then proceeded to lay Balor out with a Curb Stomp and then turned around right into Dirty Deeds from Ambrose who then left through the crowd.

It looked like the match was going to go ahead like normal as Kevin Owens was set to face off with Bobby Roode but then the former demanded that the latter tag in Gable and Roode did. However as Gable passed Roode and had his back to him the latter laid him out with a clothesline to the back of the head. Roode didn’t let Gable fall down and instead grabbed him and spun him around and hit the Glorious DDT and then Owens pinned him.

Roode got a microphone and the title belts and entered the ring again.
From here he presented the titles to Owens & Zayn and then used the microphone to proclaim that they are Team Canada ​

Nigel McGuiness from Monday Night RAW and Byron Saxton from Smackdown welcomed the WWE Universe to the Kickoff Show of the 2019 WWE Royal Rumble pay per view event.

Akira Tozawa V Buddy Murphy(c) V Cedric Alexander V Hideo Itami V
Lio Rush w Bobby Lashley V TJP
The Royal Rumble kickoff show only had one match on it, a six man survival elimination match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. It featured defending champion Buddy Murphy(c) and the five challengers of Akira Tozawa, Cedric Alexander, Hideo Itami, Lio Rush who had Bobby Lashley in his corner and TJP. TJP was eliminated by Itami thanks to the GTS, Itami was eliminated by Tozaw by way of a Bridging German Suplex. Lashley interjected himself into the match and laid both Tozawa and Alexander out with a Double Spear.

Which allowed Rush to eliminate Alexander and then unintentionally allowed Murphy to do the same to Tozawa. Lashley laid Murphy out with another Spear and then exited the ring thinking that his job was done and Rush dragged Murphy over to one of the corners and then climbed up to the top rope and did some showboating.

Then he dived off the top rope in the form of an attempted Frog Splash only for Murphy to get his knees up at the last second.
From here Murphy got back to his feet and dragged Rush up and then hit Murphy’s Law for the pin.

Back at the commentary desk the duo of McGuiness and Saxton discussed the match and then thanked the WWE Universe for joining them.

The pay per view opened with a tag team match for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship which saw the Bar(c) defend the titles against the duo of Alexander Wolfe & Killian Dain representing SaNiTy.

Who had their stablemates Nikki Cross and Eric Young in their corner. The two teams beat the hell out of each other for fifteen minutes and it could have gone either way but in the end Sheamus hit the Brogue Kick on Dain for the pinfall victory.

Next Ronda Rousey who had her friend Shayna Baszler in her corner defended the WWE RAW Women’s Championship in a triple threat against both Bayley and Sasha Banks.

Before the match officially began the two challengers took Baszler out at ringside and put her through the fan barricade. Bayley and Banks both turned their attention to Rousey who was shocked that her problem solver had effectively taken out by her two opponents.

Despite having the numbers against her the heelish Rousey, the defending champion held her own for the duration of the match.

In the end Bayley hit a Belly to Bayley suplex on Banks and then Rousey came up from behind and threw her out of the ring and pinned Banks.

When the bell rang the defending champion offered her hand to the challenger and Lynch accepted and then bowed to Asuka who reciprocated it in kind. The two women went back and forth for twenty five minutes trading near falls and submissions in the end though Asuka elbowed her way out of an attempted Bexploder and then backed up. After that the duo of Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn(c) who had Bobby Roode in their corner collectively known as Team Canada defended the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship against Chad Gable and his tag team partner of his choosing aka Apollo Crews.

Despite a good showing from the challengers the champions would gain the advantage after Roode distracted the ref which allowed Zayn to hit a low blow on Crews.

When Gable went to confront Roode he ended up being thrown into the steel steps while back in the ring Zayn dragged Crews up and hit the Blue Thunder Bomb for the pin.

As soon as the bell rang the Eric Young’s SaNiTy stablemates Alexander Wolfe, Killian Dain and Nikki Cross entered the ring and split their efforts in beating down both Samoa Joe and John Cena. Dain and Young beat Joe down and forced him out of the ring and then put him through the announce table, meanwhile back in the ring Cross jumped onto Cena’s back and Wolfe charged at him but Cena laid him out with a big boot and then hit an AA on Cross onto Wolfe.

Young entered the ring while refs came down and forced the trio of Wolfe, Dain and Cross out of the arena, Young brawled with Cena. Eventually Joe made his way back into the ring and brawled with both Cena and Young.

The ending saw Cena scoop Young up onto his shoulders and then knock Joe down with a clothesline and then hit an AA on Young onto Joe and pinned Young.

Completely out of character the defending WWE Champion aka Daniel Bryan shook hands with his opponent and even bowed which a shocked Nakamura reciprocated. As soon as the bell rang Bryan actually did another shocking thing by telling Rowan to go to the back.

Then he set work on his opponent’s arms while Nakamura did the same to Bryan’s legs. Then they took it to the next level by exchanging strikes so stiff they were straight out of NJPW. The two men went back and forth for twenty seven minutes and this first time meeting ended in a time limit draw.
Winner: Draw - Bryan retains by Default

Bryan helped Nakamura up and said he would like to do this again.

The penultimate match of the event was a double championship winner takes all triple threat match for both the WWE Universal & WWE Intercontinental Championships held by Brock Lesnar and Dean Ambrose respectively. The third man of the match was Seth Rollins who had nothing to lose but everything to gain, this match was also a one fall match.

Each of the men involved had their respective time to shine, Lesnar sent both of his opponents on separate excursions to Suplex City, then Rollins took both men down with highflying fast offense and finally Ambrose would use everything except the kitchen sink to brutalize both Rollins and Lesnar. Rollins would send Lesnar into one of the corners and then followed it up by grabbing Ambrose and then sent him into Lesnar with a Buckle Bomb.

Suddenly a man in a hoodie came through the crowd and entered the ring and hit a Superkick on Rollins and then backed up as Rollins fell to his knees and then hit a stiff shot to the back of Rollins head. The man got back to his feet and took his hood down and it was revealed to be Will O’Spreay.

As O’Spreay left the ring and went through the crowd both Lesnar and Ambrose got back to their feet and brawled, with the latter coming out on top and hit Lesnar out with Dirty Deeds onto Rollins and then pinned Lesnar.
