Earlier today, Steve sat down with Will Ferrell for Casa de mi Padre, and learned some good news and some bad news. Bad news first: Anchorman 2 remains dead. There were places for a sequel to go, but the movie isn’t going anywhere. Now the good news: you may remember that last May, Ferrell said he, John C. Reilly, and writer-director Adam McKay were considering a sequel to Step Brothers. Today, Ferrell told Steve that they are going to start writing a script really soon with the hope of filming it in the fall.

That’s a fairly quick turnaround. In June, we heard that McKay and Ferrell were considering the football comedy Three Mississippi. The movie is about two Philadelphia neighbors whose annual Thanksgiving game of tackle football has become extraordinarily heated. I like that premise, but you won’t hear me complaining if Step Brothers 2 goes in front of cameras first. I’m always up for a fuckin’ Catalina wine mixer.

I still think Anchorman 2 would have more legs than Step Brothers. I will take this though, but I think the two of them would do a better sequel with Talladega nights 2.

I think any Will Ferrell sequel will be terrible. Most of his movies are stand alone movies, and those are terrible as it is.

Although, The Other Guys was pretty damn awesome.

Step Brothers is one of the few Will Ferrell movies I actually liked, so I'd be down for the sequel.

The story has already been told though... Dunno where they could go with it

Yeah, the story was told and the problem was solved, so what are they going to do, have them get in a fight over something stupid and hate each other again?

Well, I guess if The Hangover II did the exact same thing as the first, why the hell not? :tongue1:

How about something simpler, like their parents marriage is threatened and they band together to save it so they can remain step brothers?

And Fuji is the winner.

I still would rather see a sequel to The Other Guys. Other than Stranger Than Fiction and Old School, it was the only movie he has done where I found him to be watchable. But I think a lot of that was the fact he wasn't the focal point of the comedy.
