Man, this was an absolute gift to television. The kind of raw emotion that was in True Detective week after week was astounding to me, and as a TV guy I looked forward to this show every single Sunday. Everything from the theme song to the unreal acting performance by the lead characters. One of the things I liked about the show is that they packed each episode with a punch, because there were only eight of them in the season. Everything Woody and Matthew did was pure gold and I can honestly say that I'm disappointed that they won't be back as a duo next season. No need though, they wrapped the entire story up nicely in the first.

Good stuff, my Mum has been recording them for me and I look forward to a catch up over Easter. The lead pairing really does appeal to me.

Finished this a couple of days ago and I've got to say this show was one of the most completely and well-made shows I've ever seen. The first couple episodes were kinda' slow I thought, but you could tell that they were building up to something great, and I really enjoyed the rest of the show.

Rumors going around that they're gonna' get Brad Pitt for next season and that'll be :mark:

The darkness of the Arctic falls heavy in “True Detective: Night Country,” a brand new season of the hit series that’s coming to Max this year. Issa López (Tigers Are Not Afraid) wrote “Night Country,” which will star Jodie Foster and Kali Reis.

John Hawkes (Deadwood, Winter’s Bone), Christopher Eccleston (The Leftovers), Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve), Finn Bennett (Domina) and Anna Lambe (Three Pines) will also star.

“The series is centered around Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro who are looking to solve the case of six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanishing without a trace, when the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska.

“The pair will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”

This will be the show’s first season without creator Nic Pizzolatto. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson return as executive producers, with Foster also exec producing.

“True Detective” premiered on HBO back in 2014, with the stellar first season being followed by second and third seasons that didn’t quite garner the same acclaim as that initial outing.

Jodie sells it of course. I will check it out. Still need to watch the third season as well, heard it was pretty solid. Second season just fucking killed me with this show.

Second season lost me too, I'll agree. I will say Colin Farrell made it good in parts.

Second season is great television, it would have been celebrated if it didn't have to follow after that masterpiece of a first season.

S3 was good but the constant time jumps lost me after a while.
