With Monday Night Raw celebrating its 1000th episode tomorrow I have decided to take on maybe my most ambitious and insane project yet. Starting from the begining I will review every
raw main event while also commenting on the other key happenings from that edition of the show. Please note that where there is a segment ending the show such as a contract signing
or angle I will give a general review on the quality of it. I will start off by doing these in tens to speed things up. So here we go from Ric Flair to Doink the Clown, from Bret Hart to Papa Shango
from Mr Perfect to Vince Mcmahon, from Tatanka to DX they are here! Let your fist slice of Monday Night history begin!

Monday Night Raw 11/01/93

The first raw was produced from the WWF's homebase in New York and took place in the manhatten center which for the most part of the shows early history was the setting. Raw at the begining was
very much a experment and as strange as it may seem now was behind the likes of Superstars and All American in the pecking order of WWF TV, it relied more on comedy and novity type
skits, often featured only one main event type match (in fairness that was probably true of the other shows too) and the big ppvs were not as pushed as much on it. Vince Mcmahon made
the odd choice to hail Rob Bartlett (ok anyone who is american who the hell is this guy?) to provide the comedy/heel play by play along side the more clean cut face team of himself and the
Macho Man as commentors on the early raw senselessly overlooking Bobby 'The Brain Heenan' who retained his spot on ppv. Bartlett who I found very annoying often would show up and
imposante different celebrities.

Main Event: The Undertaker VS. Damien Damento
This was a typical Undertaker match at the time where WWF would feed him some ramdon big guy with less talent and a dodgy gimmick to work with, and Taker who himself was not a great
worker at this point would go through the mortions, partly restricted by his character. The match opens with a stare down (what else?), Damien hits a couple of half hearted blows to the head
who then shoots Taker off the ropes but is then met with a face slam to the mat. Undertaker then turns his focus to the arm of Damento before doing his rope walk and comes crushing
down accross the arm, he then applies a choke hold in the corner, after Damento gets a cheap shot in he hits a running soulder block, but Taker comes back with a flying clothesline and hits
the tombstone piledriver for the three count.

Match rating 4/10

Other Happenings: Razor Ramon cuts a slick heel promo to hype his Royal Rumble match with Bret Hart and Intercontinetal champion Shawn Michaels retained the title against Max Moon with a belly to back suplex.

Monday Night Raw 18/01/93

Main Event: El Matador VS. Ric Flair
The strong heel crowd on hand in New York abslutely loved the Nature Boy! This proved to be a solid but slightly unremarkable closing match which was mainly used to set up the Flair/Mr Perfect headliner for the next week (by the way if you want to see a better Flair/Tito match watch their battle in London from October 91). Matador wins an early soulder block coming off the ropes
, he then hits a bodyslam followed by a side headlock take over, moments later Matador scores the first two count of the match with a rolling headlock take over. A running clothesline and drop
kick is next before Flair turns the tables catching Satana out on a monkey flip attempt, getting a two from a rolling crandle, Flair then roughs him up with those classic reverse chops in the
corner, a irish whipp is reversed for a back drop, thumb to the eye from Flair before he attempts that top rope spot which never works of couse! Going for the win Matador hits the flying
forearm but fails to connect with a cross body and goes over the top rope to the floor. At this stage Mr Perfect comes out and Flair and Perfect brawl causing a no contest. Post match
both agree to face each other in a loser leaves WWF match the next week.

Match rating 6/10

Other happenings: Repo man jumps Macho Man and steals his hat setting up a match between them the following week (no really!) and Mr Perfect pinned Terrific Terry Taylor in a solid opening
match and in a interview Bret Hart said that Razor was the lowest form of scum and that the WWF Title belt signled that he was the best wrestler, but that at the rumble he would prove that he was
the toughest, meanest and the best also.

Monday Night Raw 25/01/93

Main Event: Mr Perfect VS. Ric Flair - Loser Leaves the WWF
Remember a time when the WWF actually pushed and honoured their big match stipluations? Well this feud closing match between Flair and Perfect was the excuse me 'perfect' example of that. Flair
did indeed disappear from the WWF as a result of his loss and was not to be seen again for eight years. It is also fair to say that this was the most exciting match of the early raw era. Opening with a
slapping match, Perfect quickly hooks a drop toe hold and a slap for good measure, after this the pair go back and fourth with hammer locks, Flair catches him in the corner and they exchange chops.
Flair sends Perfect to the outside and attempts to use a chair but is cut off by the offical. Back inside Perfect is cut open on the head after hitting the ring post, Flair attacks the blood, irish whip into
the corner followed by a pin attempt with feet on the ropes. Perfect reverses a irish whip and connects with a forearm before getting a two from a rolling cradle. A flair hiptoss attempt is countered
into a backslide and a two count, Flair gets a atomic drop and roll up for a near fall. Flair cataches Perfect with a sleeper off the ropes, back to his feet Perfect shoots Flair head first into the turnbuckle to break the hold. A weak running clothesline produces a two count, a side headlock is countered by Flair with a impressive belly to back suplex. The Nature Boy takes a short cut with some
brass nuts to the face, but Perfect is able to kick out just before the three. Perfect gets his second wind sending Flair up side down in the corner, his foe lands on his feet on the apron, runs
across to the other corner and quickly climbs to the top however is caught with a clothesline coming off the top for a hot near fall. Irish whip is reversed, but Flair puts his head down to
early and Perfect scores with the Perfect plex for the win. A dramatic scrap with some fine wrestling towards the end and some tight near falls peaking at the end.

Match rating 7.5/10

Other happenings: Macho puts away Repo with his top rope elbow and regains his beloved hat!

Monday Night Raw 1/02/93

Main Event: The Narcissist Lex Luger VS. Jason Knight
A basic Luger squash match as he quickly disposes of Knight using a range of clotheslines one from the top, a powerslam and his knockout forearm smash and one finger pin.

Match rating 3/10

Other happenings: Tatanka remains undefeated beating Damien Damento in a boring match. Brutus Beefcake makes a unwelcome return in a interview with Mcmahon, Beefcake says he intends to return
to the ring and the 'struting and cutting'. In an uneasy and senseless moment he says that before his boating accident both his parents passed away and his wife filed for divorce. He concluded
that his saving grace was Hulk Hogan's support and it was him that motivated him to recover. This segment was terrible. Doink beat Typhoon using a handful of tights in an odd comedy match.
Tyhpoon was really made to look the fool here. A Tribute was paid to Andre the Giant who passed away the previous week. And in a convincing segment Money Inc challenged Beefcake
to wrestle either one of them in his comeback match, in a funny moment IRS also accused the Barber of not paying his taxes while being out injuried. This was the first step to manager
Jimmy Hart switching babyface as he tried to talk his clients out of the match informing them that they had much more important tag matches to focus on.

Monday Night Raw 15/02/93

Main Event: Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase VS. Brutus Beefcake
This was a short and simple 80s style power match which turned more into a angle. Beefcake controlled the early stages over powering Dibiase, and hitting soulder blocks and back drop, Dibiase fired back with some fists and chops and a gutwrech suplex. As Beefcake regained the upper hand the match came to a quick end when IRS appeared at ringside and nailed Brutus with a mental
briefcase. This led to a post match attack which despite the efforts of the offcial and Jimmy Hart ended with a briefcase shot to the face of Brutus.

Match rating 5/10

Other happenings: Razor Ramon won a 16 man battle royal when Giant Gonzales eliminated the other two remaining wrestlers El Matador and Tatanka (this made no sense as Gonzales was
not offically in the battle royal).

Monday Night Raw 22/02/93

Main Event: Shawn Michaels and the Beverly Brothers VS. Tatanka and the Nasty Boys
Michaels was the star of this match which main purpose was the push the HBK/Tatanka Wrestlemania bout. HBK took a nice bump over the top rope early on, followed by a double back drop back inside at the hands of the Nasty Boys. The Nastys then give a double pitt stop to the Beverlys. Knobs misses a splash in the corner and Michaels connects with a flying reverse elbow off the ropes. The heels then take control cutting the ring off, but Michaels puts his head down too soon on a back drop attempt and is clotheslined, Blake takes a chop by Tatanka and then a soulder
breaker from Sags, Tatanka tags back in as the Nasty Boys take the Beverlys out on the outside Tatanka gets a close two count on HBK from a powerslam, he then gets a even closer count
from a chop off the top, a samaon drop attempt is broken up by the Beverlys, but a sunset flip a minute later is enough to get the pin.

Match rating 6/10

Other happenings: Crush beat Terric Terry Taylor in a poor match, on his WWF comeback Hogan forms a tag team with Brutus Beefcake they make Jimmy Hart their new manager and challenge
Money Ink to a match, and Undertaker defeats Skinner in the usual.

Monday Night Raw 1/03/93

Main Event: The Steiner Brothers VS. Dwayne Gill and Barry Hardy
Another squash for the main event this week, but the Steiners did these kind of matches better than most really giving the fans their moneys worth. Suplexes, bulldogs off the ropes and the frankiesteiner for the win.

Match rating 4.5/10

Other happenings: WWF Champion Bret Hart beat Fatu vis sharpshooter in a solid match and Money Inc accept the Hogan/Beefcake challenge and the match is set for Wrestlemania 9.

Monday Night Raw 8/03/93

Main Event: Mr Perfect VS. Rick Martel
A sharp early sequence sees Perfect hiptoss and kicked away by the Model, Henning then slams Martel who responds with another kick out only for him to be slammed again. The Model cartwheels
out the way of a Perfect forearm attempt, they exchange wrist locks, Perfect takes him down by the ankle, he is kicked off into the ropes but with Martel waiting returns the favour on the cartwheel.
A Martel irish whip is reversed but Henning is met with a high knee in the corner followed by a beautiful over head suplex into a hammer lock by Martel, attempted roll up sees Perfect dock as they hit the ropes causing the Model to crash on the outside. Later Martel hits a gutwretch suplex for two, then focuses on the back with a camel clutch and back breaker, however springboard
crossbody is met with knees by Perfect. Henning hits two atomic drops and the straps come down! reverse chop, back body drop out of the corner, an irish whip is reversed by Martel
but he teleragraphs a head drop and Perfect gets the perfectplex for the three count. This was a fine wrestling match with both guys really working the crowd.

Match rating 7/10

Other happenings: Money Inc defeated Virgil and El Matador in an enjoyable match and Bob Backland pinned Tony Demaro.

Monday Night Raw 15/03/93

Main Event: The Nasty Boys VS. The Headshrinkers
The Nasty's take the early edge with a Knobs running clothesline and a double back drop, Sags then clotheslines both Shrinkers, following a pin attemp Knobs tags in and hits a armbar drop. Samu
gets a headbutt but his hiptoss is reversed by Sags, both Nastys work on the arm with quick tags in and out. Sags is caught with a knee from Fatu on the outside and takes a double chop from
the shrinkers, later Sags is choked by a television cable on the outside. Samu misses a diving headbutt from the top, Knobs tags in and hits a back drop before taking on both men with clotheslines
but then makes the mistake of going to the head and recieves a double headbutt for his troubles. A double DDT turns things around again, but soon all four are brawling on the outside leading to a
anticlimatic double count out. This was a decent enough brawl with the Nasty Boys doing a solid job overall.

Match rating 6/10

Other happenings: Heenan returned to the broadcast booth (just for one week mind), sadly Bartlett was there also doing an impression of Vince Mcmahon, luckily there was enough wit from him and
Gorilla Monsoon to prevent it from turning into a total disater. This raw came from Poughkeepsie NY where there had been a blizzard before hand. Harvey Wippleman did most the talking for the Giant
Gonzales in their interview segment while his man tried and failed to look imposing:hm: and Bob Backland beat Papa Shango in a match which was better than one might expect.

Monday Night Raw 22/03/93

Main Event: Kamala VS. Doink
There was no comedy match clitche left unturned in this stinker of a match and due to Kamala's gimmick and bumbling style, the match was slow and akward. Following the bell Doink offers Kamala
a present then takes a cheap shot, delievers a elbow drop and works on the arm. Chops by Kamala (his favourite move) is cut off by Doink's thumb to the eye and a take down, the clown then starts
tramping on Kamala's chest, then back to the armbar, a new move from Kamala with a hiptoss followed by another chop, he then slaps his belly (his second favourite move), Kamala hits a splash in the
corner and chases Doink around the ring before the clown returns to offering the big man a present and in one of the lamest finishes ever Kamala is counted out while opening the present (which is empity). Post match Kamala goes under the ring and is hit by a chair on his way out before getting a shot in on Doink from behind. WOW! I hope you enjoyed reading about this match as much as I
enjoyed writing about it:mark:

Match rating 3/10

Other happenings: The Bushwackers bested Repo Man and Damien Damento in one of the worse matches I have ever seen! and Andre the Giant was annonced as the first inductee into the WWF Hall of Fame. This had to be one of the worse raws in history and did nothing to push Mania.
