Biggest mistake was having Hunico take off the mask so soon or not just switch to another mask.

Perhaps Ricardo could start wrestling as a masked man.

It was quite odd that they unmasked Hunico and made him a look like a guy from the street rather than simply altering his look with a mask. Not sure why they didn't want a heel in a mask that could have feuded with Mysterio after he was done with Sin Cara. They could always repackage him they would just have to give him a new name as well as a new gimmick.

At least RAW won't be coming to San Diego any time soon, so maybe he said fukk it?

That's actually plausible.

As noted before, Rey Mysterio tested positive for amphetamines back on February 13th but wasn't suspended until April 26th. He is currently serving a 60 days suspension. At the time Rey was told of his failure, he was told to submit all of the different medications that he was taking since he said he had no idea why he would have tested positive. WWE would have had their doctors evaluate the medications to see if there was a legitimate reason for the amphetamines.

The belief now is that a dietary supplement he was taking to lose weight could have contained a small amount of amphetamines.

Shortly after the drug test in February in San Diego, there was talk within WWE of frustration with him to the point it was said he would not be getting any kind of push upon returning. People were told in early March not to waste time coming up with angles or storylines for his return but no reasons were given. A very small number of people in the company would have known about the failure from February 13th until April 26th as doctors evaluated the case.

Mysterio, who is currently signed to a long-term contract with WWE, won't be eligible to return until June 25th. Since he was not working on the road, the two month suspension would likely cost him around $166,667 in salary.

Harsh so why not fire him?

I hate when they take so long to announce the suspensions, not really fair on the guy especially since he could have served the punishment whilst injured rather than being suspended when he was close to being healthy. Seems like WWE really only want him because of his ability to sell merchandise. They could always put him back on tv but keep him around just to put others over or maybe they can put him in a tag team to help that division. From the sounds of it he wont be getting a title shot any time soon.

Yeah but if they intentionally broke the policy why should they benefit from being injured? I can see why they would wait. Though it seems like this may not have been intentional.

But you shouldn't be able to pick and choose when you suspend a guy, they should be suspended as soon as you can wrap up their storyline on tv. I guess this time around they wanted to test his supplements to find out why he tested positive but for a professional organisation it shouldn't take two months to come to a conclusion.

I don't believe there won't be any type of storyline for his return. Rey brings in tons of money. He has to be one of the top 5 superstars with merchandise sales.

Mysterio is a big money drawer and one of their top stars in the company who has been loyal to the company for many years and I seriously hate how WWE treat him. Really unfair.

Mysterio's positive tests are more of a result from his knees not being able to carry all the extra muscle he's been lugging around since 99. It's a weird dichotomy of where he needed to beef up to be taken serious against the giants of WCW and WWE. And the fact that his body needed the treatment to help him heal up, because he needs to kill his knees to wow everybody and become the star he is now.

Was kinda surprised when reading the report that he didn't get let off due to them believing it was dietary supplements. Dunno what their process is though for guys trying to clear their name though.

Austin, what are you talking about? Rey is doing this himself. He failed two drug tests.

He's loyal and valuable. Not everyone has John Cena's work ethic.

Being loyal and trying to restructure your contract every 6 months doesn't seem very loyal imo.
