"Cortana look, I can emote now..."

Despite the fact that the iconic Master Chief has been loved, recognized, and easy to connect with, even with the helmet of the various versions of his badass Mjolnir armor, the new Halo TV Series on Paramount+ plans to unmask the UNSC's most decorated Spartan, John 117.

Kiki Wolfkill (what a badass name), the "Halo Transmedia Boss" was quoted by IGN saying, "I think we set out to tell a character story and a personal story(...)and once we really got into what that story was, it became clear that you really needed to see the person in the armor and under the helmet". She made sure to specifically add "You will see his face".

Getting more into the reasoning behind this, Wolfkill would go on to explain that the Halo TV Series is a part of its own canon, which is called the "Silver Timeline", and in order to make it feel unique and different, "...it felt really important to connect with the Master Chief in a different way, and that meant showing the face".

Kiki Wolfkill described the polarizing nature of this decision by saying, "for some people, it’s been a moment 20 years in the making, and for other people it is something that feels very hard to imagine(...)we absolutely respect both sides of that fence, those who really want to see Chief's face and those who really don't".

Which side do you stand on? I, for one, wish for my mythological, badass, armor-clad, space marine to remain the helmet wearing soldier of the future that he is.

The Halo TV Series is set to premiere March 24th, 2022 on Paramount+.

I'm looking forward to this show. The trailers look pretty good, will be interesting to see how well they nail the games. I'm optimistic.

Just watched the pilot. I have only played the very first game when I was in high school and I remember very little of it so I couldn't say how faithful series is to the games. I thought it was quite entertaining, the CGI is pretty solid for a TV show, but it does look like a Syfy show sometimes, think Defiance or Dominion.

I don’t think it follows the game at all. Like it’s not even meant to. From my understanding it’s supposed to be its own thing.

I watched this a few weeks ago, wasn't very interesting.

But I was drunk and someone was telling me to "watch this part" throughout it, my review may be a tad tainted.

That makes sense since the first game always was from Masterchief's perspective and they needed secondary characters for this. I just wonder if we'll see some key sequences from it, such as the floods.
