Ready to Rumble Returns

Ready 2 Rumble Returns
New publisher and developer to handle boxing franchise.
by Jeremy Dunham

March 2, 2007 - Midway may not have released one for years, but that doesn't mean that the Ready 2 Rumble franchise is dead. In a surprise announcement out of Darmstadt today, German publisher 10tacle Studios has confirmed that it will be continuing the series in partnership with Japanese developers Aki (Def Jam, WWF No Mercy). The Buffer Partnership (announcer Michael Buffer's group) and Stereo Mode (videogame production house) are also attached.

"With the release of Ready 2 Rumble 10tacle Studios is focusing on one of the major game brands in the market," commented 10tacle CEO Michele Pes. "The family-friendly, humorous realization of the boxing sport is unique and an ideal supplement to our product portfolio."

"We are very pleased to have experienced development partners like Aki Corporation and the producing team of Stereo Mode on board for the realization of this project," added 10tacle's Singapore Aroon Tan. "At the same time, this project underlines the strategic position of 10tacle Studios in the Asian games market as a full-service provider for development, production, funding and distribution."

A release date, specific platforms, and game details are currently unknown (will we still fight celebrities?), but 10tacle has stared that it expects a return through distribution of Ready 2 Rumble of more than $20 million (US) by the year 2010.

- Goldust, who is currently nursing a shoulder injury, stated today on his Twitter account that he may retire soon.

He wrote, "Guys i think im gonna retire pretty soon."

He added, "Listen i love all of our roster....they work their #!@%*#es off and they r getting faster and stronger and better each day...very proud of all of em."

He's getting up there in age and really there's not much left to do for him. He's had a solid career to, from back in WCW where he put on some great matches, to his time where the Goldust character was a mainstay, in the mid card of WWF. Prob wants to forget his time in TNA though as the Black Reign character was just horrible.

Damn really kind of want to see a Goldust/Booker interaction before he hangs it up. Shame he is gonna retire since he showed he could still put on a damn good match at any given time.
