Ricky Romero Jr. aka Ricky Youngblood Jr. announced the passing of Chris Romero, who wrestled as Chris Youngblood this afternoon on Facebook:

To the wresting world and to his friend Chris Youngblood Romero has Passed away this morning in Portland O.R. from the Romero Family.

Chris, the son of Ricky Romero, teamed with his brother Mark in a number of different promotions, including the USWA, WCW, Puerto Rico's World Wrestling Council and for the Global Wrestling Federation. The dup held the GWF Tag Team titles as well as WWC Tag Titles (six times) and the WWC Caribbean Tag Team Titles. The team also held the NWA Australasian Tag Team Championship.

While mostly known as a tag team performer in the United States, Chris did feud with Steve Austin early in Austin's career in Texas. Internationally, Romero also competed under his own name while touring Japan's FMW, where he teamed with Super Leatherface. Romero had started to transition out of wrestling full-time after a hip injury in 1999 but ran a wrestling academy out of Amarillo, Texas where he also booked and ran West Texas Legends Wrestling, which later changed its name to The Professional Wrestling Federation. He would occassionally wrestle and sometimes manage.

Romero was 55 at the time of his passing. His passing is being attributed to liver and kidney failure.

RIP

Chris

RIP, he was a decent midcard talent and a good tag performer. 55 is too young.
