Okay...so...where to start.
The Beginning I guess.
I really enjoy watching films.
I generally do not watch TV shows because of the years of
investment needed & a lot of time (from what I've heard) many
TV shows are ruined by a lackluster ending.
I prefer a cohesive narrative/story served up up to me in a 90
minute to 2 hour time frame with a beginning, middle & end.
That is just how I like my entertainment.
I will admit there are a few exceptions (Game of Thrones, Breaking
Bad, Sons of Anarchy & Attack on Titan) but for the most part I'm
a film guy.
Now because of this I also watch a lot of online material discussing
the art of film & film making in general & there is one film I have been
incredibly curious about but have avoided until now.
BRIGHT
Now I have watched countless video essays on this particular film &
from what I've gathered its "generally" pretty awful with stale &
unlikeable characters involved in a "violent chase scene" that in some
places makes no sense based on a script that was hacked to pieces.
The fact David Ayer was the director doesn't surprise me as I have
already watched one of his films that could be described the exact
same way.
Suicide Squad...what a fucking mess that was/is.
I guess I find Bright so interesting because it appears to be another
case of wasted potential with "the World" the story is set in being one
completely & utterly ruined by lazy & poor "World Building" and I myself
have a very keen interest in "World Building" itself.
I also find the rumored theories of film critics "banning together" to
"take down" Bright to protect the "Hollywood System" from streaming
services fascinating as well...but like I've explained...these kind of films
& the stories surrounding it are always very interesting to me.
Now I do intend to watch Bright (hopefully this weekend) but I wanted
to throw a question out to all of you here before I sit down and possibly
waste 118 minutes of my life.
Have you seen Bright...and what did you personally think of it?
You don't have to worry about spoilers...just let me know what you
thought of the film.
Thanks for your time, have a good one, let the women of the WWE
"kill it" at Evolution this Sunday & I'll see you...all around the traps.
