Pretty much to anyone who is saying what is the big deal about this in a nutshell the joke itself isn't the problem it is the timing of the joke that is the issue. The same joke that is funny between friends at home or in a joking environment isn't gonna be funny at a funeral or in this case...
Since forever? It's one of the most common stereotypes in America. Sergio wouldn't have said it if it wasn't a racial stereotype same way Fuzzy Zoeller said it to Tiger years ago (which came off a lot worse).

I'm sure Bret didn't actually mean harm by the comment but that is something touchy to joke about in front of everyone and could make Pat feel awkward which it seemed to do. Pat doesn't seem to want to be a guy who wants to be defined by his sexuality.
