This isn't a guilty pleasures thread. I don't consider anything I listen to a "guilty" pleasure. I listen to what I like, plain and simple.
For example though, I'm pretty much a metalhead...but sometimes the eardrums need a break. There's some stuff I listen to that many people wouldn't really peg me for....

I love really soulful jazzy and piano driven stuff like Fiona Apple and Duffy

I'm a huge Frank Sinatra fan. Mostly his older works, not the more popular New York, New York kinda songs.

Some indie rock as well.... The Shins, Iron and Wine, Death Cab For Cutie and a few others.

I have quite a large collection of classical music as well.

So how about you guys. How do you step outside of your usual musical tastes?

I don't download this stuff, but some women with great voices grab my attention. Like Beyonce at the Academy Awards or whatever, that sort of big, powerful voice.

Maybe its because everybody else in Baltimore fucking does it, but I listen to ringtone rap, and that club mix shit.

Do the stanky leg imo

I like the Bloodhound Gang. I know they're juvenile at best, but they're lyrics are still witty at times.

When you went to their old site, if you put your cursor over each of the band members' pics, theyd talk. Jimmy Pops went "Hi my name is Jimmy Pop, and the rest of the guys in the band, ARE FAGS!" When I was in college, id just had it so hed say FAGS, FAGS, FAGS, over and over again and crank it until my RA would tell me to turn it off.

I mainly listen to punk and rock, but from time to time a band such as Coldplay ends up getting stuck in my head, and I'll listen to a bit of them. Not really a guilty pleasure, more just like having a song stuck in my head, and taking a break from my usual, harder, angrier music. I've also been known to listen to some rap.

I mainly listen to hip-hop/rap and r&b but I've been quite fond of artists like Coldplay and U2. I'm starting to like heavy metal music now with a little bit of screamo.

As a hip-hop head, I need my dose of ignorance once in awhile with Gucci Mane, Too Short and Project Pat.

But outside of my element? Eagles of Death Metal!
