Pretty simple thread, would Scott Steiner been a world champ in WCW/WWF in his prime had he not been stuck in a tag team with Rick Steiner? The only world championship Scott won was in a dying WCW in 2000 against Booker T. Scott was pretty awesome in the late 80's early 90's, do you think he had what it took to be a singles star?

Absolutely. I believe that if he had gotten a big push after a turn on Rick Steiner in the early 90's, then he could have been a big player in WCW. Perhaps he even would have gone to WWF at one point. But yeah, Steiner ruled at one point. Actually, he still rules, but in a completely different way.

Scott Steiner was in WWE when Stephanie was the GM of Smackdown.

But I'm saying that if he had turned in the late 80's or early 90's, then perhaps he could have jumped to the WWF in the mid 90's while in his prime. By the time he was in the WWE, he was well over the proverbial hill.

well, he debuted in the wwf in 93....so in his short run he was pretty good. I think if he was only a singles wrestler to start, he would have had a much more sucessful career. By the time he went back to wcw (mid 90s) the injuries were starting to mount up.

I was talking more about his run from 88-95.

Steiner always had what it took to make a great natural heel. However... he found himself in the WWE at all the wrong times. Most notably his last run where he encountered behind the scenes problems with HHH...an instant death knell in the WWE. He was obviously always the better Steiner brother but the guy has issues...he was never a safe bet to push. I think that's why we only saw him hold the title during the sinking ship days of WCW.

While many of the failures of that time can be blamed on HHH, the failure of Scott Steiner isn't one of them. Steiner was actually quite protected in his feud with Triple H.
